JP didn't state how this person saw the movie early. The film premieres today at a fan event in Japan and they're only showing the first hour. So will see. Only a few could have seen the movie early. I don't see how a normal average Joe fan could have seen the movie.

Not that I'm a big fan of the idea myself, but I'd imagine the difference they are getting at is that Rey heals Kylo under "normal circumstances", whereas Ben has already been drained to within an inch of his life when he pulls the same stunt, essentially giving Rey his last reserves to revive her with his dying breath...
It's not that Rey "does it better", it's just that she's in far better shape when she does.
I'd imagine they labour the point by showing it takes a lot out of her to revive Kylo in this way...

    If true, of course.

I'm a bit wary of the language being used here too. Being killed and "brought back to life" is different to being mortally wounded, and then being healed and brought back from the brink of death IMO...

All this talk of cheating death...why oh why didn't they just make Plageuis the big bad from VII - IX and actually have a coherent story that is backed up by previous films? Shoehorning in Palpatine (in some form) and diminishing the climax of ROTJ seems foolish to me.

In regards to what they seem to be doing - it appears to me that Palpatine has managed to "cheat death" by Force draining, but that merely sustains his mortally injured self. But Rey (and later Ben Solo) are able to fully heal. This strikes accord with the theme of the Jedi being able to achieve true greatness, whilst the Sith are on the pathway to inevitable destruction. Jedi being able to become Force ghosts being the prime example. I just hope these important themes aren't ridden over as well, without any basis from previous films. I'm not keen on new Force powers just being chucked in to fit the story, likewise with there having once been a Mrs and baby Palpatine. That's why I always felt Plagueis was the perfect answer: Created Anakin, found a way to cheat death, fooled Palpatine, went into the shadows, plotted to take over and dominate the galaxy, maybe created Rey - providing us a villain with powers superior/different to anything we have seen. Hey ho, we are where we are and I live in hope that JJ has executed this well and has managed to create a coherent story out of what has been a slightly confusing and messy trilogy thus far...

I won't listen to John Williams leaked sound track. I want to save something unspoiled for when I see TROS. A part of me really want these leaks to be wrong. It's obvious that the heroes will win in the end, but I wish that Palpatine was not the big bad for this movie, especially if there is no Anakin or Luke Skywalker to defeat him. I know it will be Rey that will wind up being the heroine of the whole Skywalker saga when she finally kills Palpatine for good. It will just reinforce that heroes I grew up with since 1977 are failures. I know failure is a wonderful lesson, according to Yoda, but it sure stings. I don't mind Rey being the heroine at the end, it just feels like to me "get your own villian" Rey, this one is already taken.

The leaks imply that the title of the movie, The Rise of Skywalker applies to Rey. When the title was first revealed at Star Wars Celebration, I wondered if the title applied to Luke, Leia, Anakin or even Ben Solo. I thought maybe Rey if she is related to the Skywalkers by blood. But it looks like she gives herself the last name Skywalker, in the same vein as Rose, from the movie Titanic, gave herself the last name Dawson in order to give herself a new identity and to commemorate the person she loved. This is the only way I can begrudgingly accept Rey taking up the Skywalker last name.

I am looking forward to this movie to see it how it all plays out, but part of me is like "let's get this over with". I have 42 years worth of high expectations and emotional investment in the Skywalker saga. I am just ready for something new and with a whole new set of characters. So when does season 7 of the Clone Wars start?

you mean... Rey Palpatine will end up being the heroine of the Palpatine Saga.

    Joking but...

I really like the idea of Rey Unralated.
I even looked forward to a finale with all the Skywalkers dead and their legacy fully passed on to other people because of virtue and not blood.
Sure bittersweet, but fitting the narrative and... meaningful.

I thought that this could have been a good compromise, to not throwing out the baby with the bath water.
I've never believed for a moment - in fact - that those who defended TLj choices (and rightfully so) with public statements such as
"you don't need to come from a special lineage to be special" - as if we ever cared about Yoda or Obi Wan or
Qui Gon parents - could ever take such a huge step back.

Yet my expectations were subverted once again.

However Rey Palpatine taking the surname of Luke - with whom she basically had not relationship - is the dumbest compromise they could have possibly came up with.

It doesn't explain anything. It opens a void.

Because of that, if at the end of the day she has to be somebody... make her a Skywalker period
in the traditional way. I honestly see not point in something different than that.

But Reylos would have shipped incest.

    That's the reasoning. I think.
This has been the "50 shades of gRey's Twilightsabers" trilogy.
    Nothing more, nothing less.

There's nothing to indicate that this person is just an Average Joe fan, what was said is this person isn't huge into Star Wars. There are tons of people who work for Disney, Lucasfilm or Bad Robot, not all of them are going to be massive Star Wars fans yet would still be very close to the film in some form or another, especially now in the final stages. It doesn't even have to be a direct employee, it could be someone with a close relation to an employee. My guess would be, like usual, it's coming from Bad Robot.

    from JediPaxis’s post on Reddit

“This person has seen the previous films, but isn’t an obsessive fan like you and I. They also only saw the film *once so this likely won’t be a perfect retelling of what they saw.”

Got to be honest, a lot of this could be executed well but at the moment I’m feeling somewhat disappointed. I felt the same in the leaks of TLJ in their handling of Luke but then loved the movie.

Felt very underwhelmed by TFA though - despite being very excited by the leaks on that, so what do I know.

Just, there seems to be so many instances Lucasfilm has dropped the ball in this latest trilogy.

I do feel that they could have handled things better in terms of appeasing the old fans and new. I get that you have to move on and change with the times but it’s felt, at times, way too forced and has undone some elements of the two other trilogy’s what with Palpatine back and (what seems like) no Anakin.

Hopefully though I see the movie and I love it and things are explained properly.

I’ll certainly give it a chance and can’t wait to see it still.

    It's cute.

But you'll have to explain to me where's the point to chose a family where everyone is dead ...

I think two things stand out to me.

The JP synopsis has always had something rather clearly specified within it from the start which people tend to have glossed over, IMHO.
"The BASIC plot of The Rise Of Skywalker"...
He's never claimed it was comprehensive and that it didn't have gaps.

Also, regarding this latest update: "I'll roll the dice on this one..." seems to be the key disclaimer there.
In other words, he can't vouch for the credibility of the guy who passed on the info, but it seems to me he is saying that some of his other sources, who he can vouch for, have suggested that the circumstances under which he claims to have obtained this knowledge seem to stack up.

"They claim to have seen the film. It's plausible that they could have." - that's hardly a glowing endorsement really, is it. Seems to me, he's heard some stuff, and he's throwing it out there, whether he can back it up or not, because there is only a week to go.

A German ad for Burger King is spoiling the movie and is basically confirming the Jedi Praxis leaks.

For the people who don't speak German- the ad is spoiling Rey is a Palpatine, Kylo dying etc.

Lucasfilm does not do external screenings, so anybody who isn't a Lucasfilm employee and is claiming to have seen the film is lying.

Also, any Lucasfilm employee who had seen the film would not be leaking its details onto the internet.

Why....? Have they done this before? It seems strange, because the actors would never say this during the press tours.

Anyone allowed to see a film before its official release date would be required to sign a nondisclosure agreement carrying heavy civil and criminal penalties if violated.

And "anonymously" leaking details a about a movie onto the internet is absolutely a violation of nondisclosure agreements and is behavior that Lucasfilm employees and their friends and family would be highly unlikely to engage in.
