    It's time to eat!

@RockyRoadHux and I had another great and delicious adventure in the land of food.

Homemade burgers with garlic butter and seasoned with salt, red chili flakes, and pepper:
    1.jpg

Grilled/ toasted hamburger buns with lettuce and baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, cheddar and onions. Served with corn:
    2.jpg

Rub softened butter over each ear of corn and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Line ears of corn up on prepared baking sheet and bake for 35 - 40 minutes, turning halfway through.

    3.jpg

Next- comfort food: roast chicken, we put the herbs and butter under the skin and stuffed a cooked lemon into the chicken... it turned out amazing:
    4.jpg 5.jpg

Last, but not least- we tried out Ina Garden's

How to Make Ina’s 5-Star Baked Shrimp Scampi:

    shrimp in the shell
    3 tablespoons good olive oil
    2 tablespoons dry white wine
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
4 teaspoons minced garlic (4 cloves)
    1/4 cup minced shallots
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley leaves
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
    1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
    1 extra-large egg yolk
2/3 cup panko (Japanese dried bread flakes)
    Lemon wedges, for serving
    index.jpg

With sweet potatoe fries and salad!

    Dinner is ready!

So taking inspiration from @Star Dude I decided on some ramen for lunch as I was in LONDON for the day.

First up some Prawn & Ginger Goyza
    20190511_122228.jpg

    Then it was RAMEN time
    20190511_122222.jpg
Very traditional pork broth with some Roast pork belly, Bean Sprouts, Bamboo Shoots & Burnt Galic Oil plus a Seasond Egg

Then later on as I was hungry from a good walk around London a slice of Black Forest Gateau

My all time favourite Gateau .

    Another week Another RAMEN.

    20190518_121656.jpg

It was good but not quite as good as last week's although the 70s & 80s rock they play gives the place a great vibe & it was busy which is always a good sign.

Then at the end of the day a nice gatuax & a cappuchino.

    20190518_154104.jpg

Again it was good but the Black Forest one was much nicer.

@Addi Ras That looks delish! What's the difference between Ramen and Miso soup, does anyone know?

Black Forest and Frankfurter Kranz (see picture below) - way too rich for my taste, I can only eat a small slice if anything : D

    frankfurter-kranz-64543.jpg

... Hahaha! xD We're about to move in together next month so it will be interesting to see what food will be on our daily list.

Well, I’m so jealous of you people living near the metropoles of the world, offering almost every culinary experience imaginable. Here in the back woods, you can choose from very rudimentary ‘Sushi’ only, either provided by some Russians or Vietnamese guys. And don’t think that you can get any other Japanese dish or even flair in their ‘restaurants’. Of course this holds true for any other great food like Chinese or Syrian/Lebanese. If you’re not into old style Schnitzel, you’ve a problem around here.

Since I've been a regular viewer drooler here for far too long since my last shared experience, here's something a bit off the wall:

    Blueberry Bison Burgers!

I tried making this for the first time a few years ago and they were a surprising treat, and it's a recipe I tend to forget about because let's face it: you don't often consider adding berries to beef all that often.

As far as I can tell this recipe originated with Native Americans in the American West as a way to add some unique flavor to bison meat.
There are a few variants floating around online but the makeup of the burger I tried is really pretty basic:

    • Ground bison meat (or ground beef)
    • Blueberries
    • Green Onions

    20190531_181827.jpg

I had to sub ground beef, and regular onions instead of the green onions / scallions, and it was still a great taste. As for spices, I opted for a little bit of heat to go along with the sweetness by adding some chili powder and sriracha seasoning, as well as some garlic powder.

A few minutes on the grill...

    20190531_185016.jpg

You can see above the blueberries aren't too overwhelming. The ratio here was about 1/3 cup berries to 1 lb. meat. In retrospect, adding a few more blueberries definitely wouldn't have hurt.

    20190531_190135_001.jpg

    Plate and eat!

I went traditional with a bun, and my wife wanted to mix it up by using a couple of thick sweet potato slices for the "bun"....

    20190531_191224.jpg

    20190531_191356.jpg

The blueberry is honestly a fairly mild addition, but it definitely makes for a whole new experience. Give it a try sometime when you're feeling exotic, and let me know what you think!

It's a local delicacy. My area literally has a festival around it. Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally. From Wiki: "traditional method involves serving freshly prepared cubes of lamb, chicken, or beef on soft Italian bread or a submarine roll, occasionally drizzled with fresh marinade. Spiedie meat cubes can also be eaten straight off the skewer or can be served in salads, stir fries, and a number of other dishes. The marinade recipe varies, usually involving olive oil, vinegar, and a variety of Italian spices and fresh mint."

Sounds like something I want for today’s dinner!
Hm, I got fresh mint growing in the garden…

That’s the right food for these high temperatures in the current week.
