If you have seen some of the leaked set pictures/details from The Mandalorian, then you are probably well aware that Stormtroopers, Death Troopers, and other Imperials have been spotted on set. With this show taking place after the Empire’s fall at the Battle of Jakku, what role do you think the defeated Galactic Empire will play? Could it be another Imperial Remnant like in Legends? Will their role be more akin to Solo: A Star Wars Story where they are not the main antagonists? Who knows, let’s discuss it here!

This is Wild West show, so probably some form of evil and corrupt local authority, like some sort of private army of a local baron.

First, you need to put a spoiler tag on the title, @The Hero With No Fear, since you discuss content from leaks :)

I assume we will either see a milieu where the Empire still reigns (i.e. a Remnant Empire kind of situation) or, we'll see Imperial forces turned mercenary in some way, either by hiring themselves out to everyone's favorite local crime bosses or by their leadeship having moved into crime themselves. Furthermore, I assume the Imps will play a goon role, first and foremost, with the main antagonists (who could be ex-Imp officers or something) using Stormies for their own end.

That said, at this point in the production/leak cycle, who knows!? :D

Ditto to the above comments. But as a twist, what if the show starts out with our titular Mandalorian being a bounty hunter working exclusively for the Imperial Remnants, then switches sides as they start to fall? Show the effects of the Imperial demise from the Fringes.

It's all of those Ewoks who got tired of banging on all of those stormtrooper helmets.

Maybe the Mandalorian is hunting down wanted Imperials for Bounty.

Most likely there are many areas still under Empire control

I would think that the empire will be much weaker than we are used to seeing. Most likely a small remnant desperately trying to hold on to some form of power in the outer rim. This would also explain the use of deathtroopers, as they might not have much choice in the troopers they deploy, as they only have a small amount.

My guess is that might be a garrison left out of the main action in Jakku or some like our buddy Agent Terex from the Poe Dameron comic who went rogue and are doing mercenary stuff reusing their old Imperial attire.

That sounds super interesting. It seems that the (awfully-named) Alphabet Squadron book coming out next year will cover some similar ground to this show. The Empire lasted for over two decades, so there’s no way that all of it could have fallen only a year after the Battle of Endor.
