Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America The First Avenger and Thor(2011) all struggled before it took off all SW needs is that one film I Think The High Republic maybe it The Way Avengers also The High Republic does have the Advantage

    A) not being tied down by Legacy Characters

    B) New Characters

C)Being set years into the Past

    D) Not Tied Down by a Pre-Existing Narrative

So long as it doesn't ever truly connect to the PT or Skywalker Saga, I think they'll be just fine!

Honestly, some of the films made before the MCU had more story line than most of the subsequent films:
    • Man-Thing
    • Punisher: War Zone
    • Blade Trilogy
    • Daredevil
These are just the ones I have seen.

The MCU does something that I have a problem with many Western comics: to cynically create events that require you to purchase graphic novels of different series that would you would not have otherwise purchased. Such events often contain the tagline 'the world will never be the same' only for there to be an effective reset to the way things were before apart from the deaths of some minor characters.

In fact the whole concept of death in many comics is considered erroneous. How many times has Wolverine been resurrected? I am beginning to suspect his superpower is not his healing factor but his popularity.

A notable difference being in some non-superhero comics. Judge Dredd for example had a story-line called Day of Chaos in which a remnant of East Meg One vowed vengeance on Mega City One after their defeat/nuclear obliteration in the Apocalypse War and so uses a biological attack (think the Rage virus 28 Days Later meets Ebola) in conjunction with inciting action from other terrorist groups.

As a result of the Day of Chaos, the population of Mega City One was significantly depleted and some areas of the city remain anarchic and wild. Significant proportions of the surviving population are still traumatised years later. One Judge remembers the sound of a landslide but the sound was not rocks or soil but millions of bodies being emptied from trucks into quarantined mass graves. "Make it stop", he sobs but the trucks still keep coming.

Also, by an large, in manga and anime the narrative is more streamlined and there is a definitive idea of where the story will end in future and what direction there is. If you want to see a series that demonstrates this, I would recommend watching the following:

    • Three series: A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun, A Certain Scientific Accelerator
    • Heavy Object
    • Space Pirate Harlock
    • Queen Emeraldas
    • Devilman Lady
    • Cutie Honey
    • Mazinkaiser (OVA)
    • Space Battleship Yamato 2199, 2202
    • Mobile Suit Gudam: Origin
    • Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans
    • Terra Formars
    • Muv Luv Alternative
    • Cyber City Odeo 808
    • Bubblegum Crisis
    • Dominion Tank Police
    • Grappler Baki
    • Baki (Netflix adaptation)
And of course, there is the best anime of all JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
