I hope the child isn't called Minch or Buffy. These were the first concept names for Yoda.

    I knew about Minch, but...
    Buffy the Frog-Egg Slayer.

Sorry, if the low-hanging fruit is gonna be picked, I might as well just get it out of the way... XD

After eating the frog spawn and everything else that was able to shove down his pie hole, Minch would be the perfect name for the little yeeter. lol

    This is NOT the way.

Okay so real talk about the cloning lab.

Either it is Snoke, or they want us to think it's Snoke.

I think we're all a little burned out by Snoke theories. Rightly so. But I think that's actually giving a lot of us a bias against the obvious.

It's nearly a perfect visual match to the floating Snokes in Rise of Skywalker. Plus the soundtrack cue. You can say it's a different note, it's not an exact match, all that. Of course it isn't. But this is obviously a call back to the Emperor and Snoke themes. Show me somewhere else in all of Star Wars where they use this low male vocal droning.

I could be totally wrong. But I think the evidence is really stacked toward Snoke here.

I think everything is telegraphing Snoke, from the vague floating things in the vat to the music to all the talk of cloning. It is all deliberate...

But then the very last scene is of the dark troopers. Does their existence in a different lablike setting throw doubt on what we saw in the Nevarro lab? As in, were we totally wrong with our first impression that this is about Snoke or the "science" behind Snoke?

Or is it trying to point us to what the story is behind the dark troopers? Trying to generate Force sensitivity, cloning in order to make them? Because if we hadn't seen the Nevarro lab, we wouldn't be doing nearly as much speculating about them.

    I don't know...

I think they're connected to the dark troopers, which in legends had force powers IIRC, maybe the lab subjects are used for that? But my initial thought was Snoke. It seems to me that the project in the Nevarro lab is something of Gideon's design. Either way I'm very intrigued and would be happy with either one so long as it's done well.

I'm not too fond of the Razor Crest for some reason but I've heard my beloved ship will make an appearance this season so I'm looking forward to that.

Slave One is said to make an appearance this season

As for the floating Snokes.... my inner fanboy hopes we get a holo recording from uncle Palpatine where he cackles about using the remains of his dead master as the basis for the First Order of the Old Empire's Force Sensitve Cloning Project. Its as close to having some form of Darth Plagueis in the Sequels as we'll ever get.

    I could see three possibilities:

    1) It's Snoke. We're not meant to think too hard about it. Gideon wanted Baby Yoda for Snokey stuff, and now he's gonna do other evil stuff too.

    2) It's for those weird troopers in the end. Dark Troopers, Shadow Troopers, whatever they end up being. Really, could be almost one of those Force Sensitive Clone Troopers from the old Ep III video game. Either way, it's Gideon's new terror he plans to unleash.

    3) It's for Gideon himself. He fancies himself a bit of a sith lord, but has never found himself able to master the force. In a way, I like this a lot, because it flies in the face of the sequels message of the Force being more accessible and shows how wrong Gideon really is.

Either way... it's gone now. Unless there are other sites (which is likely enough) or the data needed was already transferred off site for the project, that lab is deep under a lava drift now.

    You can't force the Force.

Honestly, I think it's all of them, to a degree.

I think the inital purpose for the cloning was what we just saw, for Gideon's dark troopers or whatever they will be called.

I think once Gideon decides the process is perfected / safe enough, he will use it on himself in some capacity.

And finally, I don't think their end-goal is to create Snoke as we know him from the ST. I think Snoke is a "failed" creation, a reject as far as the Dark Troopers experiment is concerned. But he ends up being a massive success when it comes to force sensitivity and the concept in general. He escapes the lab in a classic Frankenstein story and sets out on a path for galactic domination. Or whatever, I don't know how he gets from Lab Creation to Supreme Leader, but you catch my drift.

Personally I never liked the Snoke-is-a-clone story that TRoS Palps was spewing. Like, there aren't just a thousand Snokes in a warehouse on Exegol somewhere. Instead, there may be 1000 dark clones in a closet but Snoke was simply the best / strongest of them all, by far. At some point the cloning process became less about dark troopers, and more about creating another success that is Snoke. This way, (in my mind at least) Snoke still has his individual identity and his character is strengthened instead of weakened, mirroring the kinds of arcs that we saw time and again in TCW with Rex, Cody, the Bad Batch, etc.

I think they want us to think it is Snoke. It's on the other side of the Galaxy, why would Palpatine build a lab so far from his Exegol? That makes no sense. I think the story line of Palpatine/Snoke/First Order is not interleaved with The Mandalorian and they will make everything possible to keep them apart. After the fiasco with TRoS :)

Maybe it's because I got burned out from over thinking things for the ST, but wasn't the cloning for Snoke just failed experiments to make a proper body for Palpatine?
That's at least the way I took things to be. So to me, this debate on whether or not it was Snoke or Palpatine is arguing over nothing.

But! I think this whole cloning situation we're seeing either ties in to Snoke/Palpatine, or with the Dark Trooper/Shadowtroopers we saw at the end of this chapter.
My money is on the latter.

I thought those bodies in the tanks were failed experiments using The Child’s blood to give a non force user access ( or a enhanced access) to the force so that Gideon could then have a group of Super Troopers.
So it looks like Snoke is a bonus that Palpatine takes advantage of as at this time the main Imperial Remainments have already fled to the Unknown Regions asper the first part of his plan.
Also we don’t have a actual timeline of when Snoke took over the FO.

If Palpatine used the charred remains of Darth Plagueis as the foundation of his cloning project, then I'm all in.

If Supreme Leader Snoke is the result of Palpatine's DNA going bonkers in the lab? I'm out.

No way Snoke is from the same genetic stock as Cosinga's force sensitive bastard.

I haven't really seen anything to get me to buy into the blood transfusion to gain force sensitivity angle.... yet.

That's right. I think it is too early for Snoke and the FO.

Me too, it seems to be too simple, get a force sensitive drink his blood and get force sensitive. Too simple to be true!
My best guess is that they need the force assistance to make some sort of genetic manipulation, something they cannot achieve just by technology. I guess this has something to do with Palpatine's Sith Alchemy, he was very skilled in it. Perhaps he found a way to transform a human into a super soldier. Something like Dark Captain America project :)

I wonder, can they develop something new and original, or we have to watch the same ideas again and again just remade!
