The Mandalorian Season 2 Wish List

I guess going into season 2 we all know a lot better as to what to expect. I think a lot of us were expecting a sort of 8 hour movie with a through line running through every episode.

What we got however was a kind of Stargate or Farscape type show with a series of episodic episodes book ended at the beginning and end of the series with episodes surrounding the series overarching plot.

At first this was a bit jarring, not because it was bad, (i love Stargate and Farscape) it just wasn't what I was expecting, so now I know what the format is going to be I won't have that slightly jarring feeling going into series 2.

As for what I want to see, more Baby Yoda. More about Baby Yoda's orgins. More Mando, more about the Purge. More about the galaxy right now, hopefully some more force user's.

 

I loved Season 1, and I expect Season 2 to be even better.

My wish list:
- More flashback to tell us the story of what happened to Mandalore and how the Darksaber exchanged hands in the past years.
- By extension, Bo Katan.
- New Republic and how it's beginning to operate, with flaws.
- Cameos: Veterans from Endor: Rex, Hera and Jacen Sydulla. Perhaps use some old footage for SW and non-SW films to bring back to young Luke, Han and Leia. JJ did a bit of this in TROS and I think it was a very nice touch.
- Some of what other fellow posters have said: Bespin, the Skywalker lightsaber, Max Kanata, etc.

Not sure if Filoni would rush to bring back Ezra so quickly. I understand Sabine and Ahsoka are in a mission to find him in remote corners of the galaxy. This search could take years or decades. IF (SUPER IF) he comes back, it would be nice for him to commune with Kana's force ghost at some point, now that we have confirmation that the latter became one with the Force.

However, if Ezra isn't back, who would duel Moff Gideon? Mando doesn't have a sword (yet). If Mando fights Gideon, we may see a reverse of the Jango-Kenobi fight. This time, the villain wielding a saber and the hero using armo, jetpack and multiple gadgets. Mando wins the darksaber in combat and unites his people.

 

They have to give us Gideon's motivation for wanting BY.
Luke is restarting the Jedi Academy around this time, the Mando could be on a cold case hunt which could bring in a lot of very cool story elements even though they never meet up. I could also see him using his contacts to try and find someone who has access to the Republic (Imperial) archives.

I just hope Season 2 doesn't just turn into a prolonged Gideon/Mando hide n' seek affair.

Having Ahsoka and Sabine, even the Ghost, would be immense and nicley set up the PR campaign for the rumoured sequel series to Rebels. Or Mando meets Maz on Takodana, now that could be interesting.

 

Agreed but dude: a Mandalorian and a baby Yoda walked through a forest in Live action. It’s awesome.

 

Patience....we have our first live action Star Wars series ever. We need to savor it.....I am not worried about it "dragging on".....

 

I wonder how well they could de-age Hamil? maybe have a n episode where they meet to discuss baby Yoda.

 

So I havent watched an episode yet of Star Trek Picard, but one thing I see from it that I really hope we see in Mandalorian Season 2 and the other shows is a bigger budget. From video of Picard it sure seems that the budget looks higher for visuals at least. I see cities and multiple ships in space battles, crowds and varied sets. Surprising with this being on CBS All Access rather then the regular network. I really hope that they give Mandalorian Season 2 and the other new series the funds to look like a living breathing galaxy with people and civilizations.

 

Season One laid down the foundation for Dyn and the YodaChild. Don't rush it. The first season of any program drops in items that seem unimportant at the time, but you find later they do. We have the good fortune of having a large complex world in which to dip toes. The Child along with Dyn and his buddies have the ability to carry the story without dragging in very many of the characters in different series. The Mandalorian is not a continuation of any other story line in the Star Wars galaxy. The baby is an instant force (pun intended) that makes demands all by himself. With so many of us loving the little green guy, it will be hard to shuffle him off into the background, to poof into nothing. I'll always want to know where he is, what he's doing, how he's doing and who he's doing it with. I vote for the Kid, anywhere, anytime.

Familiar Places: Naboo, Coruscant, Corellia & maybe Mustafar. ( It's "cooling off" )

Guest Director? LUCAS!

 

+1 for George Lucas being a surprise guest director.

+1 for Kevin Smith being a surprise director, this is controversial I know, but I feel he could deliver a great, somewhat unique episode for us if given a chance.

-1 for any connection to Boba Fett, still to this day the most overhyped character in Hollywood history, it's possible the action figure debacle of 1979 has help forge this opinion of mine. (Apologies to Boba Fett fans).

-1 for revisiting Naboo, I don't need to see that planet again (it does appear very briefly in "light speed skipping" bit I understand, but its inclusion was cut, probably coming back in some horribly overpriced DVD).

+1 Coruscant - Seeing BY in a city environment could be fun, also where else is Mando gonna pick up death sticks at a good price?

+1 Dantooine, Malastare - Two planets referenced heavily, but to my knowledge never actually shown (I think Dantooine might have made it into the Old Republic MMO, but my memory is not sharp on that).

+1 to the idea of expanding Cara's background and the fate of whatever remaining Alderaan refugees would be really cool. Expanding on her reasons for abandoning the Rebellion and the aftermath of such decisions (she seems determined NOT to enter Republic space). Any and all expansion on Cara is +1 for me.

+1 for a new Hutt character. Surely they have enough budget to construct another monstrous puppet like Jabba. Would rock to see a new fresh Hutt gangster in season 2.

+1 to showing The New Republic can kick butt when it needs to, similar to the ending of Episode 6. It's SUPER RARE that the Republic ever gets to show that it can be competent. I feel the PT was 3-films showing just how utterly stupid and reactive the Republic government was.

 

You know, that gets me thinking...

Mando S2 would be a great time to recanonize Dash.

 

Wouldn't hate it if it also came with a pretty hefty rework of Dash so he was less "Han Solo-y"

I think the medium would allow more for it (rather than being a background character in a novel and a mostly silent video game protagonist).
