SPOILER The Recruit - S01E01

Watched the first ep and can't say I will be back. There some great visuals and some very poor ones.

I spent most of the first 20mins annoyed that a new republic fighter pilot would say they want to fight for the new republic and then join the resistance to fight the FO. None of that makes any sense unless you have read Bloodline and even then???

I will leave this show alone and wait to see how people react to it over time.

 

This. Although I haven't had a chance to watch any of the episodes yet, that’s exactly how I feel. I don't feel like I'll be missing out on something if I'll decide to skip the show.

 

Enjoyed the first episode more than i thought and found the animation and color really grew on me as the episode wore on. It is definitely a kids show and i find that if i treat it as such i can enjoy it and not take it to seriously. The episode also seemed to fly by and didn't drag or spend to much time scene building.

Only negative is i found Kaz a very bland character who is the stereotypical rookie character with the same clumsiness and faults every young character were introduced to has these days. But still early on and looking forward to seeing how they develop him and in what direction he grows.

 

After three or four episodes, I am a little disappointed the racing aspect isn’t front and center. It would have been cool to have a Star Wars show based on racing (where evil First Order stuff happens during the race, like the plot lines of Speed Racer.)
However...
With the racing pushed to the side and most of the action revolving around fixing a ship and sneaking around the base, this is starting to feel like Speed Racer... if the show was spent in the garage with the main character being Sparky.

 

Eh, I'd honestly rather have the racing aspect be more of a background thing. Have the racing be used to establish the setting, and keep the spy mission (and the looming threat of the First Order) in the forefront. I'm more interested in the latter.

And since Kaz's homeworld is Hosnian Prime...

Oof.

 

in four episodes there have been two races. seems like a good balance so far. works for me! : D

 

not only that, but we've been introduced to many of the seasoned racers. we've also been shown that there will be skulduggery and back stabbing going on between the racers. we've seen the main characters maintaining their racer and visiting the racer auto parts store. (which i can't remember the name of?)

we're only 4 short episodes in. so much more to come me thinks !

p.s. i love Resistance !

 

The opening scene with the New Republic X-wings blew my mind. I wasn’t expecting the awesome blue paint job and the NR symbol, which I love. That symbol is one of the better Disney decisions. And Major Vonreg’s TIE interceptor, what a great opening. Since spaceships and space battles are one of the best parts of SW, this show’s focus on that really draws me in more than a Galactic spanning series. It’s fun to figure out what ships the cobbled together racing ships are built from.

 

Wait you're telling me you don't get the point of telling the story of someone who died?

 

Personnally no but I don't mind if others people do.

 

With that logic, the Prequels shouldn't exist.

 

I've already said that this story was lacking some force things, something I could be interested in. I watched the 3 episodes, I wasn't thrilled at all but I didn't come to this thread since I wasn't interested in this show from what I actually saw. I just gave my opinion and walked away.

I liked the prequels, it was Star Wars to me with a story to tell ( obviously Vader's one ) but maybe Kaz will meet the same importance than Anakin in the Star Wars story.

Or maybe not.

BTW, I didn't contribute to this thread because I'm not interested and if you are, you don't have to justify yourself.

 

So you don't understand the point of telling the story of Hamlet? Or, Romeo and Juliet? You don't understand why they made Rogue One, or, Logan, or, The Professional, or, Titanic, or, any story about historic figures or any story about war. You just don't understand the point of half of the comedy/tragedy duo of storytelling? Am I getting this correct? And you're in no way being completely dishonest with your replies here, right? You're not feigning utter ignorance to cover the fact that you put zero thought into your "critique" of this Star Wars show and just, blurted out some fake criticism for the sake of a negative criticism? The ignorance is just, it's tragically real? Am I getting this right?

 

It could have been sure but the episodes I've seen just didn't get me interested in this. I don't care about a space Tog Gun.

I've seen many posts deleted for some supposed personnal attacks and this is one. But I can take it.

 

People, what are you even arguing about? They said, that the show is going to move past TFA, so nobody is necessarily going to die.
