"The Rise of Kylo Ren"

Both titles could be referring to two sides of the same character. “The Rise of Skywalker” referring to Ben Solo and “The Rise of Kylo Ren” referring to Kylo Ren obviously.

This announcement has me pumped. Can’t wait to read this!

 

Am glad its coming out in a book. At least it won't be on screen and I don't have to sit through it.

 

Soule's Vader series was amazing. I can't wait to see what he does with this story. I'm kind a meh on the other materials leading to TROS, but this has me really excited.

 

I get it. It's just the nature of movie productions. They take priority and if there's major changes that have to happen it disrupts everything else.

 

If that's not even more proof that TROS refers to Kylo/Ben, then I don't know what to say anymore.

When we look at the cover, we can say that this comic is set after TLJ. Ren has his "new" mask.

 

Snoke: "Skywalker lives! As long as he does, hope lives in the galaxy." => *shows how Kylo Ren RISES from the ground*

Awesome cover. Looks like we will get some info on how the son of republic heroes become Kylo Ren!

 

It makes sense they tell the story of Kylo’s rise in a comic, because the film will concentrate on his redemption.

 

I sort of wish this would’ve been a novel, as I’m pretty unfamiliar with the Star Wars comics, but honestly, I’m just thrilled this story is being told in some medium. I’m really looking forward to this, the Age of Resistance comics and the Resistance Reborn novel. I’m glad that, with this trilogy coming to an end, we’re finally getting some more exposition and explanation for the events and characters in the new films.

 

I'll probably buy this one.

I'm pretty sure this comic takes place between Bloodline and The Force Awakens.

 

It could also take place before Bloodline where we start to see glimpses of darkness in Ben as he starts to make his turn into Kylo

 

Ben doesn't turn until some time after the events of Bloodline (anywhere from between one to two years).

 

Yes, but the story does not need to show his actual turn. He likely just didn’t wake up one morning bad. It was likely a slow turn to the dark. They easily could tell a story that starts to show how he started being seduced by the dark side

 

The artwork shows Kylo and the Knights of Ren in their armor, which implies he already turned. It’s possible the story begins before he turned –– which would’ve been Bloodline or earlier –– and continues into his time with Luke and the moment he turned. They haven’t really specified what ground they’re going to cover exactly, only that it’ll explain his turn to the dark side more.

Kylo undoubtedly had moments of darkness that concerned his parents. It’s one of the reasons why Leia wanted him to train with Luke, because she feared the worst. Those moments could definitely make an appearance in these comics, but I don’t think the real damage was really done until everything happened in Bloodline with the public revelation that Leia was Vader’s daughter.

I would guess that time period and the events that follow it are going to be the focus of the comics. If the comics were more focused on his moments of darkness before training with Luke, I’d be inclined to believe that they would’ve said during the panel that Han and Leia will play an important role in this story, too; however, the only legacy character they mentioned appearing was Luke.
