Grand Admiral Thrawns red eyes ... I hope not though, I'd rather see him in his own story with the OT3, even if it's in cartoon form.

I don't think something major is about to go down here... there's no tension in the clip (which, arguably lasts only a few frames), no fear or anger (although there is possible annoyance in their faces, although nothing too major). To me it looks as if the guys are standing around listening to someone exposing something... but why Rey would have her lightsaber ignited, I can't explain. Except, they are in a cave so... illumination? SW doesn't typically hide drama, and if this was a scene where a baddie draws a lightsaber to attach our heroes, I would expect a lot more emotion on everybody's faces.

My best guess, this scene was chosen for the pre-trailer shot because it sows all the major characters in the same frame.

 

If they're hiding they are not doing a very good job.

 

Well, for me, that looks like a finished effect rather than the ones used on-set; the red reflection doesn't look like another saber, rather a single small point of light; and their reaction seems more like they are proving their credentials to someone who isn't on board just yet.
For example, they have sought someone out for some help or key information, and they are initially unwilling to offer that help - kind of a "what on earth could you possibly know about the Jedi/Luke Skywalker" situation - and Rey pulls out the saber and ignites it to prove the point - "well, we have this..."
Or maybe someone knows it was broken and Rey is showing she was able to fix it and therefore how worthy she is of this quest.
Something along those lines seems more fitting with their reactions, to me at least.

It seems to be the desert/canyon planet, Poe is still wearing his neckerchief and Rey is wearing the bag she has in the Death Star scene.
So I think most people are agreed this is early on in the movie.
The bag is "Checkov's Gun" - if Rey is carrying it for much of the movie, there must be some McGuffin in there crucial to the plot - she must be taking *something* *somewhere* at the start of the movie, or at least possibly collecting something to take somewhere else...

 

Uh, I'm calling it! It's General Hux with Palpatine's prequel Lightsaber! In Tros we see him winding up with some latent Palpatine genes that suddenly kicks in xD

Didn't Domnhall Gleeson say something very early on before TFA to the effect that if his character's background leaked it would spoil the whole trilogy? Most thought he was just taking a piss, but what if he really IS related to or the descendant of some major character?!? After all, rumors are he is either captured by, or aligns with, the Resistance in this movie...

 

He could turn out to be an Onimi (NJO) type character that is related to Palpatine and secretly running things.

 

Imo I think people are reading too much into this, this could be anything. To me it looks like R2 or a console light not a lightsaber. Someone said that it looks like Poe is holding the Skywalker saber, I agree.
Also someone brought up the KOR, I'm still trying to figure out why these guys are supposed to be so feared? Unless they are force users I just don't get why they are so feared? If they don't use the force they should be easy opponents to super force users like Rey & Kylo
