Welcome to the Cantina! Congrats on both the movie watching and the show watching. The good news is that after Season 4 or 5, Solo doesn't really spoil TCW. But it sounds like you're aware of what happens, so enjoy the journey!

My gj and I are currently watching AJ and the Queen off Netflix. It’s a great little piece, extremely simple and written similarly to daytime TV in the 80s, but it is also very, very sweet. It shows that it was written by and for un-professionals but I’m enjoying it. The characters are cute and warm, and I love me some sass! (Hm… this is the second drag queen thing I’ve seen in a couple of months… I think I might need to bring out my glam rock outfit again soon :p ).

The Joy of Life ended today withe a mother-effer of cliff hangers. I'll say this though, I don't remember a show - either Asian or western - where 46 episodes didn't have a single filler episode or even a filler scene. Every second of the show counted. Additionally, literally every character was fantastic. Probably my favorite show of this decade and that is saying something since I drop so many good or decent shows.

I am still putting off the watching of The Expanse since I need something lighter currently. So I picked up another Chinese show, but based on Japanese manga/anime and currently available on Netflix for those who have it: The Prince of Tennis.

So far, so good, uplifting, funny, light, no need to get too deep, just what I need.

Space Precinct (1994). It's an old-school sci-fi police prodecural from Britain. It's got everything: mystery, action, drama, actors in alien costumes, family values and Idris Elba in his second role ever.

Started Castlevania, Season 3. Only one episode in and I can see this will be the best season so far. The gore and action are there, new interesting characters showed up and I laughed out loud three times.

Just finished the UK crime show, Shetland. Very good crime drama, and plus for the 3rd season where a big part of the plot moved over to Norway and took place in my home town. Fun seeing your city displayed in a foreign crime drama :) (Although it was somewhat anoying that several "Norwegian" characters were played by Swedes and Icelandians; what's up with that?)

Just started Banshee, the Am. action crime (with bouts of soft porn sprinkled throughout  ); pretty dumb stuff. It is supposed to be insanely good, but three episodes in I'm still waiting for the supposed greatness to kick in.

I have been going on a crime drama spree
First up Whistling a norwegain time drama which was based on a series of books by a ex Norwegain Policeman
Then Wallender with Kennith Branagh its realy good but it's also a bit bleak.

Oh & I finished off Castelvania S3 in a couple days

Now on to Netfix Drive to Survive S2 to get my F1 fix while the current season is being postponed due to the current situation

I am still on my Chinese dramas binge, so I present you with...

    274eef (2).jpg

My Roommate is a Detective is set in 1920s Shanghai and has a trio solving crimes in its center, a new Police Chief and former gang member, a Cambridge graduate who is Sherlock Holmes type, but coward and greedy, and a female journalist. It moves at very fast pace, the cases are interesting and the drama is funny. If you don't mind seeing foreign concessions as villains, which I don't, it's really entertaining watch, especially because I like this period in history anywhere.

The first six episodes with English subtitles are available here , there should be two new episodes every day Tuesday through Thursday every week.

    Currently watching Swamp Thing

    swamp-thing-dc-universe-poster-1559835499.jpg

7 episodes in, and I have a fascination/indifference relationship with the show.

There are loads of things I like in Swamp Thing, notably the look, atmosphere, and a couple of the characters/actors, but I am longing for a proper plot to show up in here somewhere. I mean, character studies are all good and well, but I need a story to keep my interest, not just disjointed character arcs. At present, only two side-characters, Liz Tremayne and Daniel Cassidy, hold any interest for me, although those two are quite interesting indeed! Also, honorable mention to Madame Xanadu who, while she hasn't done much beside spouting exposition, do look very cool!

This is also primarily a tell-rather-than-show series, which means it's scenes drown in expositional dialogue and characters stand around telling each other how much they love/hate one another… Not the most visually exciting scenes, those.

Too bad the show is almost over with no central plot in sight to resolve. My current position on Swamp Thing is a mixture of “Ooooh! Nice!” and “meh…” Still, there’s lots of potential here! Lots of cool stuff. (I should also mention that I'm not a supers-guy, and I do acknowledge that I'm therefore not among the target audience for this show).

The Expanse (Season 3) and Star Trek Discovery (Season 1)

I had been watching Classic Doctor Who (Season 23), but the source/option I was using to watch the season has now become inaccessible.
