While I've read a lot of Asimov over the years I've never really experienced his "Future History" series the way it was supposed to be. I had read "I, Robot" and some other robot short stories, the first 3 books of the Robot series but not "Robots And Empire" which ties Robots in with the rest of the universe. I had read the Foundation Trilogy but not any of the sequels or prequels and I had never read the Galactic Empire trilogy. And that's currently where I'm at, over the past couple of months I've gone through the Robot short stories and novels (some again and some for the first time) and will soon do the same with the Foundation books. For now I'm somewhere in the middle as I have just completed "The Stars, Like Dust" which was the second book released in the Galactic Empire trilogy but the first chronologically. It was OK but pretty strange, the most likable character was actually the antagonist. I think I was expecting this series to have the same epic scale as the Foundation novels but it was instead a pretty straight-forward, typical of the time, sci-fi adventure story although with some interesting mysteries and twists.

I'll probably pick Asimov back up next week but for now I'm reading this.

I've had it on the shelf for a while but after watching First Man again on Blu Ray last weekend I finally felt the urge to pick it up. I've read another of Buzz's books as well as Michael Collins' "Carrying The Fire" and the Armstrong biography "First Man" (plus quite a few other NASA books) so I probably won't learn too many new things but I always find it fascinating to read about the astronauts. Especially in their own words. Although I did learn one thing new in the first chapter, the reason they were getting all those alarms during their descent was because Buzz purposefully left the rendezvous radar on in case they should have to abort and get back to Columbia. As much as has been made over those alarms over the years I don't think I've ever heard the reasoning behind them beyond that it was an overload of radar data. Why they were getting an overload of data was something I was always somewhat curious about.

Just started Le Carrrie latest over A LEGACY OF SPIES. So far it’s really really good & will definitely be picking up some of his earlier works in particularly anything involving George Smiley.

Well I’ve finished Legacy of Spies. Damm god be ok but I would highly recommend either reading The Spie who came in from the cold or at least watching the film to get the ful impact of the book.

Now reading Big Week about the Allied Air Campaign of February 1944.
@Lock_S_Foils this book sounds like something you would throughly enjoy.

Cernan's book was awesome but now I'm getting back into my Asimov's Robots/Galactic Empire/Foundation reading. I'm into the Foundation books and am reading the first prequel. I love the original trilogy but this will be my first time with the prequels/sequels.

I'm about halfway through and it's not terrible but not all that great, I'm not sure what The Times was talking about. Unlike the Foundation Trilogy the whole thing is centered on one single character/storyline, Hari Seldon in his younger years trying to work out his Psychohistory. Actually so far he's just whined about how the whole thing is impossible while doing such "staggering" things as watching meteorological experiments and touring a yeast farm.

I am currently rereading The Stormlight Archives. I cannot recommend this series enough to people. If you are a fan of fantasy then you should start reading these books today. I have read many fantasy books from Harry Potter, Kingkiller Chronicles, Discworld, Narnia, Wheel of Time, Song of Ice and Fire and this is the only series that even comes close to touching Lord of the Rings and in all honestly I feel it does what Lord of the Rings does better in some areas. I know that is a bold claim but that is how amazing these books are. It is a very unique world that does not just feel like High Fantasy Europe like many novels do.

Also its staple weapon is almost as cool as a lightsaber.

After taking a break to read Leonard Nimoy's "I Am Spock" and a Mary-Sue-Fest of an old Star Trek novel called Triangle (honestly it was so bad that I thought it was a Mary Sue parody) I'm back into my Asimov Robots/Empire/Foundation reading with the second Foundation prequel...

It's already much better than the previous book and feels much more like a Foundation novel. It's still focused on Hari Seldon (so far at least) but instead of just following one series of events it jumps forward to major events that Seldon is involved in. Events of a broader scope than those in the previous book which was basically Seldon taking a tour of Trantor and its various facilities.

LOL, I didn't even mean to give you a rating and wasn't aware I had. I hadn't even really read your post I just skimmed past and saw the book cover. I took it off though, so you can relax. It's just a board rating you're going to get good and bad.

    Finished this book this morning!

I ADORED IT. It's easily the second best book Claudia Gray's done for Star Wars (first is still Lost Stars, but that's mostly due to surprise factor. I need to revisit it eventually). There is so much to the prophecies I want to discuss but this forum isn't the right place for it. Definitely a staple for any Star Wars fan.

I tried reading Queen's Shadow a few weeks ago, but I just couldn't get into it...not sure what I'll read next. In a reading slump, but Master & Apprentice really helped.

Life Before Death, fellow Radiant! Also, it's highly recommended (but NOT necessary) to read another book by Sanderson called Warbreaker before you start Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archive Book 2). It's free online and there are some nice...Easter eggs...

I love how many Sanderson and Cosmere fans we have. Too bad we have to wait until 2021 for the next Stormlight book. But, it's all right, he'll finish all ten before GRRM finishes the last two. :D

I am re-reading The Name of the Wind in my language after reading it in English years ago. I didn't remember anything, but I remember that I loved it. I like it still a lot, but Kvothe is the biggest Gerry Sue that ever Sued: he is genius level smart, educated, talented, charming... you name it. Occasionally, it annoys me so much, that I have to take breaks.
