I've been in a big Pink Floyd mood lately listening to a lot of the albums/concerts so I decided to read a couple books I have picked up in recent years but yet to read. I read a book about them in high school called A Saucerful Of Secrets but that was 25 years ago and I didn't remember a whole lot so I read one overall history of the band by Nick Mason the drummer and a briefer, more focused book about the making of Dark Side Of The Moon.

So finished Words of Radiance & started Oathbringer. Reading the three of them back to back really enhances the experience & maybe Words has just crept ahead of Way of Kings in my order of preference list although still just behind Oathbringer.

Just finished King’s 11/22/63.....amazing, enthralling, wonderful characters. I am torn now as to whether this or The Stand is his best. Love them both!!!!

Nick Mason's book was great, he was entertaining to read and it was a pretty good band history. Being the member of the band with the least creative input in the music it's a bit more technical, kind of going a lot into their gear and recording techniques as well as the crazy stage/light shows (which he was pretty involved in designing) rather than getting too deep into the actual music.

The Dark Side Of The Moon book was good but the first half of it was a summarized history of the band up until Dark Side Of The Moon and it quoted Nick's book pretty heavily. So that part of it was kind of a rehash for me having not only just read a full band history but the exact one he was taking passages from. Once I got past the "Previously On Pink Floyd" part of it and into the actual album it got really interesting.

My entire family had Covid 2-3 weeks ago and the crazy Lady neglected her own health and ended up with full blown MS relapse. So I have to go to a clinic every day to receive a therapy for 2-3 hrs during 5 days. It is sooooo boring so I finally made a serious dent in Chaos Rising.

I am better and by favorite space blueberry is wrecking shop in the Chiss Ascendancy and beyond. Good news all around. :D

Wow wow wow wow, what can I say. Never got around to the sequels, but I'm finally starting and HOLY MOLY is this incredible. I should have this one (the second) finished this weekend, and I cannot believe I am JUST as invested in the sequel as I was to the original.

Yes! Dune Messiah is actually my favorite book in the series! I mean, Dune is better and more important and all that, but my mind has never been as blown by a story as it was by Dune Messiah :D Frank Herbert was many things, and one of them was very, very gutsy

Zhan's Chaos Rising was the easiest read in a long while. I was surprised when the book ended and now I can't wait for the Greater Good. Zhan was naturally building Thrawn's background and connecting it with the stories we already know but, like always, he creates some fantastic side characters that have so much potential. And, this times, those are three ladies. :)

And, yay, blueberry isn't infallible. He can be wrong even without the Force in the mix. But, this is softer version of Thrawn, one who was hurt by personal loses and relates to others with similar experiences. I wonder what will change in the next few books before he arrives to the Empire, before Thrawn novel, where his own personal code is present, but also is the edge.

    April should hurry up.

Just started this awesome book about the USS Indianapolis, a US cruiser in WWII that delivered the atomic bomb to Tinian island. On it's return trip , on July 30, 1945, it was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. Over 900 of the 1,195 men went overboard as it sank. Of the 900 that went into the water only 316 survived several days at sea , due to shark attacks. The commanding officer , Captain McVay, was wrongly accused and found guilty during the court martial although his name was cleared over 50 years later.

From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back

So far, not as inspired as the first one, but I am only a couple of stories in, so it's too early too tell. So far decent, few touching moments, but we are still on Hoth. Plenty to look forward to. :)

Started up the third yesterday! The second was just as stellar as the first, and, apparently, the third was more of a critical and financial success than the second so I'm sure it will be great!

You're giving me Dune flashbacks :D Several months back I wrapped up my Dune read through and while I didn't finish all of them I came pretty close...

I had read the first book about 20 years ago but after re-reading that all the others were new to me. I also read a couple of Franks other novels and short story collections but none of that was comparable to Dune. After the first book God Emperor was probably my favorite. Sisterhood and Mentats of Dune were so awful I couldn't finish the trilogy or the few books I had left in the franchise. With the original 6 novels, once the original Dune is over I didn't find the rest of the storyline with Paul as interesting as the last three books that took place much farther in the future.
