I agree. It is so hard to go against the iconic Tatooine and Hoth. You make a good point with the creativity of the PT planets. But when I think about it, the Ot planets were really iconic and quite significant into the plot like most planets are anyway

Crait is my fave planet in the ST, it was awesome to look at and totally unique. I loved the beautiful crystal foxes and the way the planet played a part in the duel between Luke and Kylo - how Kylo's feet left red footprints as they broke through the salty surface while Luke's did not, offering a subtle hint that he was not really there. Beautiful.

Jakku. It was important for the first planet to immerse the audience once again.... and they nailed it.

Also, I love this image @OP.

Definitely Crait. The red dirt and salt texture made the landscape look really unique and interesting. I liked Rian Johnson’s reasoning that the red is supposed to represent the bloodshed in the battle since they obviously can’t show anything too graphic in a family friendly film.

Honorable mention goes to Starkiller Base though. Yeah, yeah, it’s another Death Star clone but I love the aesthetic of the hallways with typical Imperial fixtures and paneling blended in with the rocky walls.

Takodana, Starkiller Base (or as we now know was Ilum), Ahch To, Crait. Canto Bight even seemed pretty cool.

Wookieepedia lists the following worlds as having known Kyber crystal deposits: Adega system, Christophsis, Dantooine, Exegol, Ilum, Jedah, Lothal, M’heali, Mygeeto, Tatooine, Utapau, Y’ness, and Zoph. Of course, some of these will (probably) be unavailable to any post TRoS lightsaber manufacturer, but on the other hand this one is likely not meant to be a complete list.

There really is no debating this.

From landscape to movie set and every pixel in between, the Sequel Trilogy is pure sugar for eye-bellies.

I have to say this, as an animal lover I liked how they played a major role in TLJ. The furthiers helped Finn and Rose escape, the foxes showed the surviving Resistance members the way out of the mines, and although the porgs were mostly played for laughs one of them still alerted Rey and Chewie as to the location of the Resistance by spotting the foxes leaving the mines.
They made a nice point about animal cruelty as well. Godd on you, Rian.

You know, someone said that the deserts of Jakku had 'lost cities' hidden beneath them; pity something like that was never explored.

I love that....how I wish they had 'redeemed' Kylo earlier. And let him survive.
I always thought it would be cool to see his lightsabre change colour, showing he'd turned away from the dark.

You know...regarding Ilum being Starkiller, I really wish they had actually mentioned this in the films, much as I enjoyed the first two, they left way too much info to supplementary material. I'm a book aholic but a lot of people can't be bothered or afford to buy stuff like the Visual Dictionaries.

I like original planets that present something new and unique we haven't really seen before on screen. That's probably why I don't really like any of the planets in the ST. But if I have to chose, I'd go for Kijimi because we hadn't really seen big cities on ice planets before. It's fascinating how the ST had mostly rehashed planets whereas a stand-alone film like Rogue One managed to present a variety of unique planets such as Scarif, Lah'mu, Eadu and Wobani.

    Go figure.
