Which planet will be in the opening scene?

I voted for Mustafar. I don't know but maybe the movie can start with Kylo there doing I don't know what.

 

Had the same thought myself. In Vader's castle, surrounded by the KoR - planning their next assault.

 

Yeah, I also want that. We start in deep space and Kylo's shuttle is approaching Mustafar. The shuttle lands in front of a DESTROYED Vader's castle and Kylo (and KOR) enters it. Maybe there is a throne in that castle, so Kylo sits down on it and the KOR gather around him. Cut to Rey or someone else.

On the other hand Star Wars movies usually start with some action. Maybe Kylo and his knights have to fight for the castle first. Or what I would even like more, we'll get a opening similar to "The Dark Knight" => The KOR are attacking something.

 

It will be a beautiful scene for sure. Judging by what JJ and his team did in TFA, beautiful shots for sure.
We saw Mustafar in RO, also. I think it was a preview for IX. We will see.

 

yeah, if you're going to do this, go big. they land and Mustafar and have to slice through an army of creepy carapace-covered clicking lava monsters who have taken up residence there. then Ren sits on the throne amid the rubble and though it was an easy victory, he surveys the wreckage of his rewards and we know he's dissatisfied.

 

What happened to starting slow and building to a climax?

 

Mustafar would be great, but it won't be a sitting-around-planning-stuff scene. This is Star Wars so it will begin in media res with action &/or suspense. A talking start works in RotJ (barely) because it bringes the threat of Palpatine to the table.

My dream Episode IX opening scene would be Bespin under seige with Cloud City on fire, slowly losing altitude (i.e. a Lando rescue/recruitment mission)

Have you ever watched a Star Wars movie before? It always starts with a bang. Except for TLJ. But this opening was boring from the get go. xP

I agree. But I would love to have a "King Arthur's Round Table" like scene with Kylo and his knights. I would take the talking/planning.

The entire Saga revolves around saving Pademe.

 

I'd go, Jakku. We do an opening crawl. Starfield. Pan down, Rey looking into single sun Jakku sunset. Closing shot, Tatooine. Rey looking into binary sunrise. Second sun just coming up. Ben Solo enters frame to stand next to Rey.

Why does everybody want to go back to Jakku!

 

I'd go back to Jakku for a bunch of thematic reasons. It signifies beginnings, used at the end, beginnings and endings, endings and beginnings. It would be poignant for the final episode of the Skywalker saga, that at the end is a beginning. Sunset and sunrise. One day, beginning and ending. Having Rey here at the beginning, her "home", one sun signifies "alone" and setting foreshadows an end to her being "alone" - coupled with a binary sunrise and a Ben Solo entering frame; Rey is in a new "home" where there's another sun rising. One sun sets, two suns rise. Signifies the end of the saga and the beginning of a new start. New beginning for the Jedi. Sunset on the old, sunrise on the new. Throw in a Han, Leia and Luke force ghost scene and it wraps up with a nice bow. That's why I'd begin the end with Jakku. That's why I'd end it on Tatooine. Because Jakku is just Tatooine missing a sun. Like Han said to Ben "We miss you son."
