Hey everyone. So, Im back. I joined not too long ago. But anyway, I have a cool thread.

Any Grevious Side Film has not been confirmed or denied by any movie producers as far as I know. This is only a sort of speculation into a deeper dive into a character who I enjoy. This is still, in my opinion, won’t happen.

I can imagine a side film, like Solo or Rouge One, of General Grevious. Aka Corona Bot. A side film for this character would be interesting. Yes we see him in Clone Wars, but the general appears in the Skywalker Saga only once as he is eliminated not too long after. I think it would be interesting to see the general’s past life before he became this robot. His backstory along with any battles he lead whilst he took the position of the general of the droid army. Now personally I don’t think this is to happen. It just doesn’t seem too Star Wars-like to me if that makes any sense. But, as a side film, it might just work! With approval from the guys at LucasFilms and Disney of the concepts of the character and the cannon lore of Grevious, this could be an interesting film.

I think that this won’t happen but it could be an amazing film. As far as I know, the future of Star Wars is unclear. Is this the end? Whats next? Well, maybe this thread can get some thoughts going on for the future. Just an idea of mine. Just pure speculation! Enjoy!

I remember watching the Star Wars BTS web docs on the official site. The concept artist Warran Fu created General Grevious. He was very proud of his creation. Grevious looked ominous... He got George's hallowed stamp of approval. Grevious seemed like a prelude to what Darth Vader would become. Vader all in black, part machine part man, Grevious all in white, part machine part alien... then ROTS was released, and what we got was a coughing buffoon, a walking joke... Grevious collected the lightsabers of the Jedi he killed, trained by Count Dooku, a formidable asset indeed. I wonder, did George purposefully dumb down General Grevious to prevent him from upscaling Vader? Would the General rob Vader of his sinister aura? Vader is the focal point of the prequel trilogy would General Grevious upscale the Dark Lord of the Sith? Genndy Tartakovsky's take on General Grevious was well received in 2003 The Clone Wars micro-series. Tartakovsky's version is what I thought we would have gotten. Instead, we got a coward that OB1 was forced to chase down and destroy. So could we get a Disney+ General Grevious series... sadly, NO.

    Welcome back!

Unfortunately I'm leaning towards "no" on this one. I'm voting "maybe," because anything's possible, but I don't think the interest in Grevious is there, and there's nothing that a good book can't tell. In this scenario I'd probably want it to be like the second Thrawn book, where the story bounces back between the past and the present. Show Grevious as he's learning under Dooku in the "present," with his past being his rise to warriorhood on his home-planet. Show Grevious fail in the past with methods that would later work for him in the future. Have him muse on the irony of that, and by the end of the book, his past has caught up with where his present started. Or something like that.

I'm personally not that invested in Grevious post-Clone Wars, but I wouldn't mind a book.

I just know Grievous from ROTS. Never saw the cartoons where he appears and never read comics or any other story related to him.

So, judging my knowledge about him I voted for no.

Grievous is the bad guy that I dislike most in the prequels, alongside with the character of Anakin. He doesn't looks even menacing and also doesn't has a cool visual like Kylo or Vader, for example.

I mean I would love to see more Star Wars movies, doesn't matter about what character, but come on, there are many more interesting characters than Grevious, for example Yoda, Darth Bane, Mace Windu etc.

I agree with everyone here so far. I knew that this would be quite unlikely. It just seems like General Grevious had one purpose during the ROTS. To be one of the antagonist. And he was killed off not too long after he was introduced. I feel that if SW cared enough for that character, we would have already seen something.

Honestly, General Grievous is my least favorite character in all of the Star Wars. (Maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration. :p)

Between The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith, Grievous never evolves past being a cartoonishly evil goon and his voice gets grating after a while.

He’s like the opposite of Dooku and Maul in that regard; both of those guys had a cool aura to them in the films but were half-baked and, in Dooku’s case, was ultimately forgettable. The Clone Wars fixed that by expanding on their characters and showing them to be forces to be reckoned with.

Meanwhile, Grievous gets even more one-dimensional and weak when he’s in The Clone Wars. I don’t believe that he’s a good warrior or a cunning military leader like it and ROTS kept trying to convince me. The only episodes where I really enjoyed him was the Crystal Crisis on Utapau arc and those episodes weren’t even finished!

All of that being said, I did enjoy his Age of Republic comic issue and wouldn’t mind more stories like that to give his character the much needed help he needs.

I understand your thinking. But I still like the character. The idea of him and is presence is scary. You can’t say otherwise lol. I mean to add on to that, he has killed so many jedi, as he keeps the strands of hair which represents a padawan and also collects the lightsabers of his foes. But I get you!

I don’t get it. To each their own, but I will never believe Legends or accept it, only Canon. Only canon. CANON WILL ALWAYS WIN.

A General Grievious ANYTHING film would be amazing. He was fabulous in the 2D Clone Wars, good (but limited) in ROTS. And I feel like his story and character arc would be unforgettable in film form- a guy who turns into a monster robot, similar to Darth Vader. I see the potential.
But alas, he’s a prequel character and we know how Disney/Lucasfilm has viewed the prequels...

Yeah. I would be so curious to see his history and we he is the way he is. Why he has that cough. How he got involved with the separatist. And also, he is known for being a leader and a killer of jedi. Would love to see some duels.

I'd much rather see a film about Count Dooku defecting to the dark side.

I'd love them to adapt his backstory from legends into an animated series in TCW style.

If you haven't read it yet, I'd recommend Dooku: Jedi Lost. Gives us some insight on his past and is a pretty good book.

I don't think I'd love a General Grevious movie, I think a book would be better suited to his story. There are just so many other things going on in Star Wars with beloved characters like Kenobi and Boba that I don't think a Grevious movie or show would be a good fit.

Came here pretty much to say this. I remember waiting for Sith to come out and they were really hyping Grievous. He was so chilling and powerful in the Tartakovsky Clone Wars. He even had a comic miniseries, showing just how powerful and frightening he was as a villain. He was essentially a Jedi-hunter, a ghostly presence unlike any other Star Wars villain.

Then the movie came out, and it was like George and Lucasfilm were working off of two totally different ideas of the character. George's version wasn't frightening or ghostly. He was this old-computer-colored, coughing hunchback who runs away from battle and gets killed with a blaster shot.

So I would love to see more of the Tartakovsky, Dark Horse Greivous. But I don't need any more of the goofy Prequels Greivous.

I never read those comics in full, just skimmed through them at the bookstore, but that's exactly what I thought when ROTS finally came out. And I'd go as far to say that TCW doubled down on the silliness, and he was hardly the monster that I had hoped for.

He's a character that is dying for a more menacing telling, but it would require a lot of finagling to reconcile the differences.
