I loved all of those Q-tips and the massive amount of clones brought tears to my eyes and made me watch the Clone Wars. It had a cool plot and the battle on Geonosis was fun. That is where the fun began.

Most people don’t like his role because in the last movie he called padme an angel, and in attack of the clones he can come off as a skeevy perv. Their chemistry got better in ROTS. Also, obi wan jumps out a window after a probe like a maniac, forgetting that he has the force. Then when Anakin jumps, he says the he hates it when Anakin does that, but that’s WHAT OBI JUST DID! aHHHHhHHhHh. Otherwise I like it. They make jango decently competent, and there is a great shot when jango headbutts obi wan and lighting flashes. For one second, I felt like jango could take out 7 Jedi with his bare hands! Then mace kills him, but I’m ok with that.

Look, the movie, it doesn’t blow me away or anything, but I liked it! It is a pretty good segway into the clone wars! With the First Battle of Geonosis along with the famous arena, that is just great. But what real does the job for me is the Dooku vs Yoda fight. I didn’t care for Obi-Wan and Anakin’s failed attempt to fight the sith Dooku. But when yoda comes in, nice! It is the first time we see his fighting style too. Dooku and Yoda both have great and unique fighting styles. But yoda, don’t get me started... just look it up.... he has a .... unique style.

There are some really , really enjoyable elements of this film. I find it far more entertaining and watchable than TPM.

Particularly for me, it’s the intrigue and noir that’s involved in the first half of the plot. The universe seems expansive as we get a glimpse of Coruscant’s underbelly. The entanglement of Sifo Diyas - Tyranus - Jango Fett reeks of something insidious, culminating in Obi Wan’s fight in the pouring rain, which is visually stunning. The problem is the tone gets juxtaposed with a romance dogged by robotic and cringe worthy dialogue. Then you have the droid factory...eugh

However, in defence of Hayden - He can’t pick the dialogue! He redeems himself during his performance when he searches for Shmi. Going back to Tatooine, meeting Watto again, the Lars homestead. His devastation can really be felt, I thought his outburst was acted to perfection. I’ll always emphasise the fascinating elements of the film, but I’m aware it has some glaring issues.

    ‘Around AOTC, a perimeter create ! ‘

And once you get to the arena on Geonosis, the rest of the film is uphill and AWESOME. But even that terrible, AWFUL love story has one of the best songs to come out of Star Wars in "Love Across the Stars." That alone was worth the pain in the long-term.

I like AOTC and enjoy it when it's on, but it's one of the three movies I've never actively put on for a scene or to just watch.

Yet as a kid, it was probably my favorite of the pre-ROTS movies (INCLUDING THE OT). I thought the love story was compelling as a kid (I didn't know romance back then, I was like 10!), Anakin duel wielding and then Yoda's fight were the literal coolest things I had seen in Star Wars up until then; and Jango Fett had the best armor EVER. And all of that isn't even mentioning all of the cool spin-off games that came out that me and my friends played as often as we could.

So I'll rate it "decent," even though I consider it somewhere between that and "great."

I think AOTC is probably the only Star Wars movie I would never voluntarily watch “stand-alone”. I still watch it as part of a full rewatch or prequel rewatch though.

I voted terrible, but terrible Star Wars is still better than most other movies! ;)

I don't know if it's just a result of 8 year old me having a massive crush on Natalie Portman when the movie first came out, but I find a lot of enjoyment in the parts of AOTC that most criticize it for. The relationship between Padme and Anakin has always been the heart of the film for me, and - if I'm being completely honest, the only real reason I feel compelled to rewatch it. Watching Anakin, a man who due to being a slave and then Jedi in-training never had much experience talking to women try to clunkily romance Padme has never been a deterrent for me, and I've always chosen to see that as the reason why the romance is awkward, not just George being a bad writer and possibly Hayden being a bad actor (who knows if that's really the case, it's probably not but... I don't care). I wish there was more of it, I would've loved to see the relationship explored further. I'm lukewarm on the rest of the movie, and once the arena battle starts I sorta check out for the rest there's enough in it for me to think that it's decent.

I pretty much liked the Attack of the Clones. The battles, the characters, the general plot. I saw worse movies. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that while Anakin is now a young adult, Padme didn't grow up. But I would watch the movie again, especially between TPM and ROTS.

I think the dialogue was delivered in the way that George directed. I don't blame any of the actors in the slightest. It's bad but it has its moments.

    I voted average.

As with all the prequels, it's an amazing story which was poorly executed. AOTC isn't bottom of my SW film list.

    I voted decent.

Out of the entire Skywalker Saga, Attack of the Clones is undoubtedly my least favorite, and it’s my second least favorite if you throw the anthology films in the mix (Solo is at the bottom for me). But I still really enjoy it, and there’s so many great things about it.

Honestly, I love the prequels, but I can’t emotionally connect to the characters the same way I was able to with the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy. I had the hardest time with Attack of the Clones, especially because of how... creepy Anakin and Padmé’s relationship is executed. I realize that it’s probably very comparable to Han and Leia or Ben and Rey in some ways, but the dialogue just made Anakin and Padmé SO cringey in Attack of the Clones, and The Clone Wars and Revenge of the Sith had to pick up the pieces and make it more believable.

That being said, there’s still a lot to love about Attack of the Clones –– every scene with Ewan McGregor and the entire arena battle on Geonosis both make the film worth watching. It’s an awesome film, but it’s definitely the weakest entry in the Skywalker Saga, in my book.

Firstly, I want to say that I love ALL the films. I think the content in the film could mostly have been the first film in the prequels. I think Anakin should have been introduces as the age he was in ATOC. Nine year old Anakin was cute but too young. Same with Padme. I liked that it built up to the clone wars and they had to start the romance of Luke & Leia's parents. I think my biggest problem is the title. It kind of implies that the clones have attacked everyone before order 66. I liked that Owen and Beru were part of it albeit small roles. Generally, I did enjoy it but some of the dialogue did need tweaking.

I was able to sit back and enjoy it, like all the Saga films. Not perfect, but enough good and visually ambitious staff to look at for a bit more than 2 relaxed hours. Not every young man is cool and self-confident from the very beginning. They are clumsy and stupid from time to time, especially in front of someone they have a crush on xD

Lucas clearly isnt really good at this love stuff, which is fine. Even Spielberg isnt good at romantic comedys (Terminal).

I believe a man like Kershner would have been a good choice to direct this.
And the script, from Lucas and Hales, that apparently was finished days before PF started needed another draft or two.

Despite all that I think the movie isnt that bad. I think the whole Anakin x Padme plot was weak and their performances didnt help at all. Hayden gets a lot of flak for it, but I kinda get why he acts that way. A slave since childhood that becomes a padawan in a extreme sterile environment sees his love again after 10 years.
I would problably react even stranger lol.

The whole Obi Wan Detective Plot is great. McGregor is great in every scene and he has easily the best scenes in the movie, like Lucas knew it.

Also using the HD cams for the first time for a whole picture was bold and definitely groundbreaking, but the movie aged a lot since 02, more than Episode 1 and even 3 which was shot on almost the same cams.

Looking back even as a kid I always prefered watching Phantom Menace over Clones.
Phantom has Maul, the Pod Race and the cool Lightsaber stuff at the beginning and overall such a special vibe to it, that Clones just didnt have. (RotS wasnt released yet.)

Attack Of The Clones contains the worst ever Star Wars scene in my opinion.

    The DROID FACTORY SCENE ! ! !

    1. Padmé & Anakin needlessly playing 'conveyor belt Frogger' to add some peril , threat and danger elements into this slow paced long film. (it used to be the longest before TLJ beat it by 10 more minutes)

    2. C-3PO falling, hanging, swinging, chopping and swapping heads. Even the dreadfull CGI makes C-3PO look like an animated cartoon character.

    3. R2-D2 (my favourite ever character).... flying?! Why? How? Since when?! Eh?!

    4. Anakin's "Obi-Wan's going to kill me." line, when his sabre is chopped, which is intended to be ironic. But isn't, as it was Palpatine who killed Anakin in ROTJ, not Obi-Wan.

    5. C-3PO and his painfully unfunny situation puns. Roger Moore and Sean Connery both did it better in the James Bond films.

For me is the worst scene of all saga. Even the Ewoks movies don't have something like this.

I still remember seeing AOTC for the first time at 22 and giggling to myself over the recognition of the statement “This is a crisis. The senate must vote the chancellor emergency powers.”

A senate, conferring ‘temporary’ emergency powers, to one person, in a time of crisis? Yeah, the Romans had a word for that. “Dictator”. Julius Caesar famously managed to fenagle a dandy addendum to that title, “Dictator Perpetuo” - dictator for life.

I don’t like this movie, but it’ll always have my respect for that little gem. Thanks, George :)
