Starting with the title, right away the first letters of Revenge of the Sith and The Rise of Skywalker are scrambled in their acronyms. ROTS vs. TROS

This article is mere analysis and speculation on my part. The goal is to spark some interesting discussion.

After watching the trailer for TROS, I noticed a significant polar opposite effect of the climaxes between ROTS and TROS. Revenge of the Sith ends on Mustafar, a lava planet filled with the trade federation scum of the universe. This is the place Obi Wan leaves Anakin Skywalker to spend the rest of his days. The imagery represents hell for Anakin. He only leaves hell as Lord Vader.

The question on the minds of the Lucasfilm studio team must have been how they could take this a step further for Emperor Palpatine himself upon bringing his story back to the Star Wars Universe. Based on the trailer, inspiration appears to stem from Dante’s The Divine Comedy. The Divine Comedy is broken up into three parts; hell, purgatory, and heaven. The part we shall focus on for this article (for now) is hell.

Here is a solid Wikipedia Quote
On the evening of Good Friday, Dante is following Virgil but hesitates; Virgil explains how he has been sent by Beatrice, the symbol of Divine Love. Beatrice had been moved to aid Dante by the Virgin Mary (symbolic of compassion) and Saint Lucia (symbolic of illuminating Grace). Rachel, symbolic of the contemplative life, also appears in the heavenly scene recounted by Virgil. The two of them then begin their journey to the underworld.”

Essentially Dante and Virgil travel the circles of hell goes through a similar Journey Rey and Kylo Ren will take through the Death Star II and into Palpatine’s whereabouts.

    Here is another interesting parallel:
After passing through the vestibule, Dante and Virgil reach the ferry that will take them across the river Acheron and to Hell proper. The ferry is piloted by Charon, who does not want to let Dante enter, for he is a living being. Virgil forces Charon to take him by declaring, Vuolsi così colà dove si puote / ciò che si vuole ("It is so willed there where is power to do / That which is willed"),[20] referring to the fact that Dante is on his journey on divine grounds. The wailing and blasphemy of the damned souls entering Charon's boat contrast with the joyful singing of the blessed souls arriving by ferry in the Purgatorio. The passage across the Acheron, however, is undescribed, since Dante faints and does not awaken until he is on the other side."

The greatest parallel is that the 9th circle of hell is a frozen lake. While the first 8 layers of hell all are hot and firey, the 9th circle is cold, lonely, and somber. The 9th circle of hell is for the traitors, to which Palpatine is truly a traitor to the Jedi order. In the center of hell is the devil (Palpatine) himself.

The arch-traitor, Lucifer was once held by God to be fairest of the angels before his pride led him to rebel against God, resulting in his expulsion from Heaven. Lucifer is a giant, terrifying beast trapped waist-deep in the ice, fixed and suffering. He has three faces, each a different color: one red (the middle), one a pale yellow (the right), and one black (the left):

Overall, Palpatine’s location cold, and isolated, represents the same location as Lucifer. It also represents the traitor Palpatine was to the Jedi Order.

What really makes me truly curious is if the Force actually placed him in this location. As of now, we all think that he somehow managed to escape from the Death Star II. What if he didn’t? What if the force isolated him from the rest of the universe in order to protect the rest of the universe???

There is now a theory that Rey's dagger is related to Mortis https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/1...final-trailer-rey-dagger-of-mortis-clone-wars
While I do not think this is Mortis, I do think this may be a similar concept. This explains why people are running around on Star Destroyers in space...it's not space. This place beyond they galaxy may be a place created by the force itself to isolate and imprison Palpatine.

This is fascinating! I read the Inferno and parts of the Purgatario and Paradiso. I will comment in more detail presently.
