I was wondering if Max von sydow is the main bad one.Well considering his age.Do you @Kyle think this cyborg dude will be the main villain in the rest of the triology?

 

I dont think Max von Sydow is the main villain (that scary looking half cyborg guy from the leaked concept art).
Here is my theory why:
One or two weeks back Faraci from badassdigest said that we havent seen or heard about which actor played the main villain yet. And that some of the cast was intentionally left out of that famous script reading photo.

Based on other rumours i've read so far, i think that he is played by Benidict Cumberbatch. I remeber awhile back just before the cast was annouced that Latino Review had a rumour that he was cast in the movie after all and that he would only have a small role sort of like the emperor in ESB and that he will come into his own in the follwing two episodes.

Add to that some british talkshow which Cumberbatch appeared in twice. First with Harrison Ford, where Ford was asked about EP 7 (before official cast announcements). He looked to Benedict who in turn said - i think it's ok for you to say your in it. The feeling of that clip makes it very apparent that they both knew more than what they where telling.

Last time he was on that talkshow which was recently, he was asked about Star Trek 3 (no comment). And then EP7 , also no comment. He said he had visited the set, but when asked if he filmed anything there he said no comment. I believe he was burned abit about the negative reaction from fans over the whole lying denying thing from Trek 2, so this time he won't make the same misstake and it's easier to just say " no comment ".

Anyways that is my theory.

 

Great speculation Dennis! He could be great in Star Wars... people screaming that one actor shouldn't be in both Trek and Wars need to get over it. We're getting a director who made Trek films... So an actor is not such a big deal. I do think, however, if in fact Cumberbatch plays a villain, he won't be a secret villain. (Too much like Trek into Darkness then.) He won't be shown until the end if at all, but not a secret. The people working for him will be the secret reveal, be it Driver or ape-blast Luke.

In related news, I find Cumberbatch infinitely watchable, not even for his performance per se. His physical appearance is exotic and I can't help but look at him... He really looks otherwordly/alien... Shape of eyes/color... Whatever else they add to accentuate his looks will only make it better/scarier/more memorable.

 

@Kyle Sounds very interesting. I find this totally believable, a lot more so than Luke being the cyborg (I suspect that that is nothing more than some sort of premonition). We don't know the context of the conversation. Luke could be warning Han that his son is medling with the dark side. Obviously Han isn't just going to take Luke's word for it. Hence the face-off.

So episode 7 is a Scream movie or Scooby do episode. I would think the villains true identity would not be reviled in 7 but in 8. We have to remember Starwars movies do have a formula I would expect 7 to be similar to a new hope.

 

And of course, Han has always been more than a little sceptical of the force- leading him to doubt Luke just enough to doubt him. And then there's this idea of Luke living the life of a hermit for a prolonged period of time and looking a bit worse because it, making his testimony a bit more questionable.

 

Hmmm the Force is strong with this one.

 

I say MVS is working for Leia, or at least that is who he calls announcing "it is here". You have to think no matter the public opinion of the Jedi, Leia still has a fondness and family connection to them. So while she is probably a politician (they hide things? naw) She will be looking for her brother.

To Cumberbatch being the main villain.

 

I'd love to see Benedict in Star Wars, as any random character, but making him the main villain would be perfect.

 

Not for nothing, but Palpatine didn't appear in ANH at all... and his appearance in ESB was via hologram... it wasn't until RotJ that we saw the main baddie in full glory...

 

Hey, Luke wants to kill Driver but han steps in and makes himself killed instead.....

Speculation - Luke finds who Driver is and wants to kill him, but Han saves him by sacrificing himself.....maybe Driver is the young Solo after all.......I don't believe Daisy is Han and Leia' s kid. Driver as rich aristocratic Solo/Organa makes sense.

 

I'm glad to see this rumored photo returned to the forefront, since my crazy theories relied on its existence. Since I don't see if you've done so yet Kyle still needs to confirm that this was an actual production photo, he described it as a production photo but eh I suppose the question still exists.

In regards to spectacle, Driver wearing a mask has been a favored theory of mine for awhile, glad to see someone else is stepping in and supporting it. Even if you haven't proven as reliable yet.

With King's latest leak I wish we had word on the picture of Lupita and Leia in what appears to be a political debate.

 

How about Driver is in the middle, and trying to calm both sides down...

Driver: Han, you don't know everything... give him a chance to explain

Han: How do YOU know?

 

I think its more Driver has helped Han out and Han trusts him. A ragged character comes to toward them saying "I will not fall, i will destroy you." Han pulls his blaster, Luke can sense the darkside in Driver and ignites his green lightsaber throwing back his hood reveling a disheveled rough/crazy looking Luke. Han looks confused tells Luke "Hey its me" Luke looks confused at Han like he just realized who he is/that anyone besides Driver is there. Driver takes the opportunity to strike either firing Han's blaster using the force or his own. Luke's ricochet hits Han(causing his death) and the beginning of a battle that brings in Storm troopers, Boyega and Daisy.

 

Han: Luke!?.....Luke is crazy..he can't even take care of himself,much less rescue anybody..
