    Hey guys, over the past few weeks I've watched scores of videos concerning The Last Jedi. So many people on youtube ripped this film apart for reasons that in some cases are comically ignorant or uninformed. There are valid criticisms for this film but I'd like to hear some of the non sensical and out there statements about the film.

    Some examples being:

    1. I've heard on multiple occasions people hating on the TLJ because they claim Leia and Holdo to be a lesbian couple in the film just because they tenderly hold hands once.

    2. Rey defeated Luke Skywalker in combat. Which I find to be untrue since in that fight, Rey hits Luke from behind with her staff, then proceeds to fight Luke who disarms her, leading to Rey calling upon the lightsaber, cheating.

    3. The idea that Rian Johnson hates Star Wars.

    My favorite and this was said to my face:

    "They did nothing new with the Force in this movie."

    Just saying, this might have more to do with Holdo's representation in the book than people blindly interpreting it that way. Either way it's their business regardless.

    This is yet another proof that more people would like TLJ if they had watched the film, not look with one eye on the projection screen and with the other on the smartphone.

    It's the Finn/Poe, Bucky/Steve complex.
    People see any intimacy as romantic intimacy.
    It's sad/strange and why male friendships are often stuck in an atavistic state in pop cultures because anything other than "ultimate manliness" or "bro culture" is seen as "romantic" and pushed as such and it devalues the idea of just a close friendship between men.
    The only way this gets portrayed is in war movies usually.

    That's wierd cause they came with a lot of news stuff related with the force:

    - Leia's moving through the space;
    - Yoda's power lightining and kicking Luke's head with the stick;
    - Luke's force projection.

    Is that serious? Or you made that up? Hahahah

    To be fair Leia actually moving in space is not a new Force ability. It could be argued her ability to survive in space is a new Force ability.

    Right, it's basically just a Force Pull in zero g. I don't get why people are so utterly confused by that.

    Another one of those:

    "How DJ knows what the Resistance is planning? PLOT HOLE!"

    He was literally next to Finn when Poe divulged Holdo's plan.

    If it's no big deal, why is it presented in epic scope on screen with the most grandiose version of Leia's Theme blaring?
    Rian shrugging it off like he doesn't even think it's important or that what she did isn't that impressive is ridiculous. It's a very important scene, and Leia is very powerful in the scene. I don't really have a problem with Leia being super powerful. But I thought that whole sequence was just a bit wonky...but it didn't kill the movie for me. If I decide to look at it a certain way, I can actually appreciate the scene.

    I don't think anyone is implying that it's no big deal. Just that the pull itself is not something new to Star Wars.

    I personally thought it looked a little wonky but didn't ruin my enjoyment of the movie either.

    I'm not saying that it's "no big deal", but that people are acting like it's some new Force power.

    It's an incredibly important moment to see Leia actually harness the force, I'd agree. But it's not like it's some bizarre thing that is a glaring plot hole that people try to make it, or some new Force Flight power. It's like people forget she was in space.

    Yeah this one is funny because we see (in multiple shots, I believe) X-Wings being fueled up in 1977 lol
