    How is it performing in general, can someone explain? Cinema's I visited were not as packed as with TFA. When TFA was in its 6th week, the cinema was still packed at 10.00 AM.

    Less hype in the UK this year maybe? I haven't seen a single Rogue One tv advert yet. My two screenings on Friday 16th December were barely half full too.

    still a lot of foreign markets not reporting yet. not just China/South Korea.

    marketing's been weird with this one and it's not a strictly family-friendly film like TFA was more geared for, so those things might impact gross over the long run.

    i saw TFA 13 times in the theatre. i might not see R1 more than twice.

    Looks like RO is going to have significant legs. First reviews for Assassin Creed are out and everyone is saying it's garbage.

    RO has no competition.

    Last year TFA made $248 million dollars in its opening weekend (18-20th Dec). In the comparable period this year (16 -18th Dec) Rogue One took $155m in its opening weekend.

    So far it looks like it'll take just under 2/3rds of what TFA took. However, positive reviews and a good buzz around the movie may take it slightly higher. I stand by my prediction of a total world wide gross of $1.4 billion - more than enough to take it past the current 2016 leader 'Captain America: Civil War' at $1.153 billion.

    This movie was so much better then TFA. I'll b surprised if it doesn't pass 1 billion globally. I plan 2 c it in every format except IMAX Dome, (formally OMNIMAX) that format hurts my neck!

    Technically, there's Sing as a family-friendly alternative, but as it stands with audience reactions, Rogue One is doing well with kids and families alike, even with its darker tone. So I think that those two movies will safely hang on to the top two spots for a while.

    I think this weekend will be strong for Rogue One.
    Assasin's Creed is turrible and so is Passengers.

    Last weekend here in the states some areas, my own included, had some really terrible weather and I'd be willing to bet a lot of people stayed home over seeing it. They will get their chance this weekend.

    I will be delighted if Rogue One pulls ahead of Finding Dory to become the biggest movie released in the United States. In order to do that, it will need to make over 460 million, which it will at the rate it's going (despite the 60% drop from week one to two.) Internationallly, I'm not sure if it can beat Captain America, which earned well over one billion, but I certainly hope it does.

    Two consecutive years, two Star Wars movies top the Box Office. This will speak volumes to Disney and the industry.

    An awful film can be marketed so well that many people will go pay to watch an awful film. Jurassic World and Titanic are such examples.
