Finding Dory will be beaten by Thursday next week. It should also clear The Dark Knight, but I get the feeling that it might be pretty close. It really depends on how the movie deals with an influx of competition, which is something it didn't have in the closing weeks of last year.

The truth is that this movie is a huge success is US and some more places like UK.But in the rest of the world, looking in general, it has been... I don't know if disappointing is the word, but it's something to worry about. Look at the numbers of Civil War and even Zootopia and Fantastic Beasts for example.I'm brazilian and here, for example, Rogue One didn't even made the top 10 of high grossing movies of 2016.

Is there a good place to find out what the top-grossing movies of the year in other countries were? BOM doesn't seem to have such a feature.

I think the short of it is that Star Wars is primarily a phenomenon in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and that while it does well overseas, it's not as popular outside of a few territories. I'm guessing that with Disney's plan to give everyone Star Wars out the wazoo, this will change over time.

Does anyone think it will stall out now and NOT reach a billion?

It kind of blows my mind that Star Wars isn't bigger in China, while movies that aren't considered very well done here, like Transformers, Pacific Rim, or Terminator:Genysis, are successful over there.

At the current rate? Probably not. It looks like it should make at least another $50M or so domestically and quite a bit more overseas. It would have to come to a screeching halt worldwide in order for it to come up short.

It will. It has a whole month to play in China. It made 31 million there in three days. If it only makes 50 more for the entire month, it will need only 40 about more from the rest of the world - including from the US - by the end of it's run. It will reach it and go over.

Donnie Yen is considered quite the star in China, I believe. Perhaps his inclusion will get more people to see Rogue One than TFA?

It'll hit it by next weekend. The real question is going to be if it tops Captain America: Civil War worldwide at the current rate - which I'm guessing that it either won't, or it'll do so pretty narrowly.

That's not quite how the box office works. More people didn't see Doctor Strange just because Captain America: Civil War didn't make as much as Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
