The relatively slow rate at which it's dropping suggests that it could still be in theaters by the time that Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice arrives - or at least mid-March.

The typical movie is in theaters until 3-5 months before it's home video release. Over the past decade, as digital/VOD has become more rpedominant, the gap has been closing more and more. I just felt that adding this on top of what youre saying, @Pomojema would help others since I work with this stuff daily...I wouldn't be shocked if LFL/Disny supplants their incomes with a re-release in December right before The Oscars like "Avatar (2009)" did and ANH did in 1978 prior to ESB (1980). I think theatrically, it will make a dent in "Avatar (2009) and then surpass it drastically after it leaves its initial theatrical release .

Virtually no chance to catch #10 alltime adjusted now. Boxofficemojo just updated new adjusted for inflation numbers for the third time this month.
    s
Snow White has jumped over 15 million since Jan 1st. It has now settled in at 948 million. Last week it was 943 and two weeks before that it was 933. Not sure why all the sudden changes as I thought it was based in ticket price inflation. Anyhow, being 50 million away now, it has no chance. It could have caught the 933 million but that is old news. In the meantime, TFA has actually dropped couple of 100 thousand since its release due to inflation. Its a conspiracy, lol

I have a simpler explanation. Snow White has been released multiple times, so it isn't a one-time straight inflation adjustment. It requires multiple adjustments, at least one per time period. Perhaps Box Office Mojo doesn't do them all at once, and instead periodically phases them in.

However, I have no inside info as to how Box Office Mojo adjusts their inflation calculations or when they do it.

On the bright side, if TFA has a decent-sized re-release, it could easily catch Snow White and others.

It should probably clear $900 million domestic by Friday, and $2 billion worldwide by Saturday.

It's not going to make that much, especially considering that the three Avatar sequels won't seem like the huge, groundbreaking events that the first one was now that 3-D is much more widespread now than it was about a decade ago. $1.5 billion worldwide? It should clear that, but beyond that is overestimating things.

I agree. When I went to see Avatar, I went because it was must see 3D. The story itself did not move me much. I went and saw it once. Now however, I'm not a big fan of 3D anymore and don't have as much time to go see movies as much as I did in the past, so I don't see myself even going to see the new Avatar movies in the theater. However, with TFA, I've gone 4 times buying a total of 12 tickets because of my kids interest as well (only one time being 3D). With the new Avatar there will be some who go because of the name but I don't think it will have nearly the repeat business that the first one or that TFA has had. While it will do well at the box office I'll be surprised if it even comes close to TFA.

That's IF it even climbs to the heights of the first Avatar movie.

Off topic, but I love the Old Biff name lol

Anything is possible, especially since I would not have figured films like Avatar and Titanic to be so high. They were both good films, but just don't have the fans of a Star Wars yet they got that high. That being said, I don't think Avatar 2 will get near as much money as the first. It's been so long since the first and I just don't sense the fervor behind it. The first one was somewhat of an event because of the 3D and the new technology. I enjoyed it, but the story wasn't spectacular so it's not like I'm chomping at the bit for the new ones.

I think Avatar 2 will make 3b billion at least because it is that significant around the world. It should also pass the 1 billion mark domestic. I guess we will find out. The whole David vs goliath is captivating to many people around the world.

I am so happy at TFA box office, even if it was light on the OS side. 900 million means many more films, which is good news for us fans.......

    heck ya,.......say it again.....

    900 million ......woooooo

Btw, if you adjust Avatar DOM 760 million, doesn't it adjust to 1 billion in todays money due to inflation?
