I think there's another way, a better way, one that doesn't need a 2-minutes editing neither:

What if the whole movie was Kylo Ren's dream? That would all make sense. In Ep 9, we'll see Kylo wake up in a bacta tank a few days after his humiliating defeat at the hands of Rey. Think about it. His Mother flies through space like Mary Poppins, he kills Snoke and becomes Supreme Leader, his nemesis Luke dies, Luke drinks alien milk, Rey has a crush on him, Phasma plays a minor role, Finn and Poe are nobody's, and his rival for Rey's love (Finn) finds a new girl (Rose). It was just a dream. It was just a dream. It was just a dream. Wake up, Kylo! :D:D:D

I think you have totally missed the point on why the ending for Luke was so perfect. He made it clear, he isn't a god. He's flesh and blood and can be killed when 20 AT-AT's fire on him. LUKE TRANSCENDED PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AND MADE HIMSELF APPEAR TO BE A GOD! He didn't have to hurt one person. He didn't need a "laser sword". Yet he made himself a bigger legend, one that the galaxy needed to inspire uprising against the First Order. Luke's choice to "take on the whole First Order" was seen by the men and women on that battlefield, on both sides, as doing the impossible. They are now talking about it and spreading the legend. Add to that he made Kylo look like a fool and sparked the potential for more betrayal inside the First Order. Hux already gave Kylo the evil eye when they were inside the Rebel base.

Luke also shouldn't be the one to battle his nephew because it's not his place to do so. Luke screwed up by showing he feared Ben's future and almost killed him in a brief moment of dark side pull. Now you want him to kill Kylo? No, this is Rey and Rens story. They will face off, the way they should.

Luke being a Force ghost has way more potential for him to help Rey and haunt his nephew. I hope JJ exploits these possibilities.

She is not. Did you see Episode 2? Yoda stop the parts of the cave collapsing on him and he stop that big structure on falling on Obi-Wan which allowed Dooku to escape. I'm, sure that alone is more heavier than few big boulders and I believe an X-Wing would weigh more than those boulders also. an X-Wing weights around 12 metric tons or little over 13 US tons (based on real life scientific calculations). I doubt all of those boulders weighed more than that.

If that is right then I guess that makes this a lot more acceptable.. didn't remember the part with Yoda holding the cave up. Just thought he threw the machinery.

12 tons for X-Wing though? 5 maybe.. I don't think they could turn the way they do if they were that heavy

I've heard a few others mention the fact that Luke didn't hurt anyone, and I didn't consider that part about it.. I feel a lot better about the ending now (also after deadmanwalkin009's points)

Yeah it was the during the same fight where Dooku and Yoda was fighting using their force powers. I mean it wasn't the whole cave. Just the part that Dooku tried to drop on Yoda. If you account for the velocity of those rock's dropping from the ceiling of that cave, i'm sure it's pretty heavy and he stop those with ease.

Keep in mind that when Yoda lifted the X-Wing out of the swamp, HE FLEW IT BACK! Have you ever lifted something full of water? That X-Wing had water coming out of it and wet sea weed all over. Yet he flew it out of the swamp like he was piloting it!

As for Rey, yeah it's a lot of boulders. But they were made of salt which are probably much lighter since the salt seems to blow in the air on Crait. Pure speculation to make things work :)

I stand corrected. I meant 5 metric tons. (12,000 lbs roughly, that's was where I got the 12, my bad). which is still A LOT!! They based there guestimation of the weight by scaling down an F-22 fighter jet. This article is where I got my information. Since there isn't any canonical information (both current or old), this is the closest thing we have until something official comes out.

    https://what-if.xkcd.com/3/

I didn't think about including the water weight, so that added several more hundred pounds i'm sure. Good call!

I would totally be on board with TLJ being passed off as Kylo's dream while recovering in a Bacta tank from an ass-whooping he received from Luke or Snoke lol.

Shouldn't this thread be moved to the TLJ forum, and merged with one of the dozen different threads bashing on the movie, and throwing around terrible fan fiction?

    Snoke dies, Luke dies. Balance.
Maybe Rey dies in IX after Kylo dies.

I agree that it's not an accurate portrayal but it would have slightly lessened the blow.

Then what would explain Leia's absence?

Luke's death worked in the movie, but I hated it as we got one film without him and only one film with him. I get it is about the next generation but Luke's death just rubbed me the wrong way as it represented how the OT cast has been so shafted in this ST. They could go the Force Ghost route, but honestly I want something more creative.

What if Luke didn't actually die? What if he was transported somewhere else, like Mortis for instance. And we have a B-plot focusing on Luke on that planet. And perhaps he comes back, like Gandalf the White; a lot stronger and changed.

Either way, I can count on one thing: given the divisiveness with Luke's character(and TLJ at large), along with Fisher's death; we WILL be seeing more of Luke in some fashion in order to course correct to a degree.

Why would anyone think that a SW film without Luke Skywalker is better than one with him in it?

I honestly feel that this is where the majority of the backlash is coming from...Seriously, who wouldn’t want Luke taking an active role in Episode 9? Let’s be honest here, nobody is buying tickets to see Finn, Rey and Po. They wanted Han, Luke + Leia, but the creators predictably killed them off as soon as they could. The classic characters should never have been involved anyway, Disney may face the backlash with future films w/out them
