Abrams would be smart to bring in Filoni for IX

I know Filoni does the animated stuff but he understands SW maybe better than Lucas himself. They really need to get IX right. IMO ending Anakin legacy is throwing away billions of future revenue. Spin offs don’t require them to destroy all that came before.

The movies established visions, history the chosen one and that needs to remain part of the Saga future. Otherwise why even use the SW name? Just make a new movie in space.

Vader, Luke, the droids, Falcon, cantina and the mysteries of the Force, Jedi and Sith are the cornerstones of SW success. Why kill it? Billions have been mAde

It's time to let the Skywalkers rest (not necessarily to die) and tell new stories with new players and locations. Personally I want the Skywalker saga respectevly Anakin's legacy to end with episode IX. For me SW was never about the Skywalkers, but everyone and the force itself.

These things are parts of the Skywalker saga. The next "XYZ"-Saga will bring new and old stuff to the table. Expanding the lore, you know?

I highly doubt that. I never understood the hype around Filoni. He introduced some (I'm to sorry to say it that way) stupid stuff and alot of fan service. Of course he made alot of things right. That's out of question.

    Space whales.
    SPACE. WHALES.

Could you imagine if JJ or RJ introduced bloody SPACE WHALES in 7 or 8?

What was the fan reaction to early seasons of the CW and Rebels? Because Lucas was universally hated by the "fans" for "ruining" and "not understanding" Star Wars until TLJ came along and Lucas suddenly became a "visionary" and "brilliant storyteller", while RJ became hated for "ruining" and "not understanding" Star Wars. Why am I bringing this up? Well, if there is a similar pattern with Filoni, we can understand why there is hype around him.

    It is a pattern indeed.

It's almost like Star Wars is not one single interpretation and can mean many different things to many different people and expecting it to be the same for everyone is a fool's errand and that's part of what makes Star Wars so great.

I don’t know, I get the impression that as long as Luke was riding on the back of the whales, wrecking stuff with his light saber and being super powerful in the force, many who feel like Rian ruined SW for them may have actually liked TLJ better.

Wasn't even mentioned in the OT, just a line in the novel, we lived even deacdes without knowing Darth is a title.
That was always some of the lazier parts of the PT instead of showing him doing special things we were just told he was special.

Filoni was part of a show that showed more facettes of the force, not only Jedi vs Sith, also nightsister magick and other force schools. He as well expanded the universe which is still needed in my opinion.
Not even sure who said he is not involved in the Story group but fans should stop projecting their own view onto some people we don't know hat those guys would do and if I (not even talking about the multi fraction-ed fandom as a whole)would like it.

So, Obi Wan even called him "Darth" as if it was his first name.

I am ok with resting the Skywalker. That is what spin offs are for. No need to hijack the original story to build your own.

Those are no different than a bantha or tauntaun.
You don't have to like them but they are still just variations of normal terrestrial animals. Same with the crystal foxes.

The space whales are force sensitive hyper space flying, no atmosphere needing whales that literally live in space.
    Apples to oranges.
A more apt comparison is the less than loved bor gullet

It’s a toss up but I think bot gullet was worse than the space whales.

Just look at it this way: the next trilogies or sagas are all spin-offs. ;D

There is a good reason that they are now calling this sequence of 9 movies the Skywalker saga. They are going to be creating new sagas in the future and by giving it a name like Skywalker saga, it allows people to easily differentiate between what will be the different sagas. I’m personally looking forward to seeing new stories from the GFFA

Filoni has a background in animation, a completely different story medium than live action. In a way, he is already having influence on the films because he is a member of the story group. However, I don’t know if Filoni should (or he’s even interested) in helming a live action film.

The live action show is where Filoni should get first crack at this.
See if he can handle and likes it.

I agree! Dave Filoni does feel like he knows the universe more than George Lucas based off the animated tv shows alone. It would be amazing if they got him to write it, he would be much better at writing a fantastic Star Wars movie then the writer(s) of Batman v. Superman and Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom.
