"A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...."

Imagine you are sitting down in the theater. The lights dim, silence drowns the room and a familiar Lucasfilm logo plays on the screen. It is followed by an even more familiar phrase and -- BOOM! The iconic fanfare starts roaring in the cinema while the opening crawl to THE FALLEN KNIGHTS rolls out.

Inspired by @DarthSnow's fancasting, this thread was made to discuss a "what if" scenario where Lucasfilm decided to adapt the Old Republic Paint Adventures as a standalone saga sometime after Episode IX.

Like with any adaptation, changes cannot be avoided! How do you turn an interactive webcomic thread of 72 pages into a 120 minute film? Do you add some stuff? Do you remove something else? Who is the director? What scenes are changed? What names?

I am going to start with an example:
Al once said that Doop Skychafer would have to go through a name change in any serious adaptation and the name he suggested to me was Drew Sunrider. We all remember how Doop was always losing his lightsabers in Act 1, yes?

I don't think this would work in a 2h movie! Not like that. I think Doop would have his yellow lightsaber for all of TFK but have it become damaged somewhere on Nar Shaddaa and only repair it between the 1st and 2nd movie. Snote would not show his lightsaber UNTIL the Missy bridge moment for better suspense. I also think Missy would have a role connected to Jun before the battle (who would also start his plot A LOT earlier than in the comic)

I call all of us to have some fun between updates and think what worked in the comic before and if it will work again in a different medium. And if not, what kind of form would it take?

Very fun idea, @madarabg !! I think this could make for some excellent speculating indeed...

Sadly, I am not sure if the name "Snote" would make the cut. As much as I actually prefer this over it's spoofy counterpart (When talking about Snoke I have all too often accidentally called him Snote not even realizing it) I think that the Grand Admiral's name would need a revisiting. To what though, I've not a clue... I'm almost afraid to venture into those territories!

Again, great thread idea! I'll surely be back with more ideas :D

I'm too "used" to Snote to admit this, but you're probably right Lord Snow. :(

I wonder if Lucasfilm would have the balls to keep Darth Saber as is. I mean, we have Darth Maul already. Saber isn't that much of a stretch when you think about it.

From someone who would sell his second heart and third kidney for an official ORPA movie:

This is also the universe that has Corellia and Coruscant. Tatooine and Dantooine. If you are worried about the names sounding too much alike, that argument doesn't hold much water.

I think some names simply have too much of an emotional attachment to be just altered like that.

Like @DarthSnow said, us ORPA readers on average have a deeper connection with the name "Snote" as opposed to "Snoke" :D

Unless... very first R-rated Star Wars movie?

I can only barely imagine an R-rated movie with Saber and 5 girls all alone in the FriendShip and it's glorious.

An R rated, Old Republic era Star Wars pentalogy written by Chris Miller and directed by Rian Johnson is like the pipe dream of Star Wars projects. Since RJ is doing his own trilogy, there are no chances of that happening.

    UNLESS...

Is there something you're not telling us @Alamact??

Isn't Chris Miller on bad terms with Lucasfilm since the Han Solo production blew up? Plus I don't think he would go anywhere without Phil Lord in the package either.

It is a bit of an unconventional pick to put it mildly. :D

Dude, that's literally the Rear Admiral, though.

I've been sitting here waiting for this type of exchange to happen and it did not disappoint. :D

Here's a vague-ish explanation until @Alamact decides to weigh in on this:
Technically "CM" is literally the Rear Admiral, but the Rear Admiral is not literally Chris Miller of the duo that we know as Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

He looks like the lovechild of RotS Obi Wan and TFA General Hux.
You literally can't make this blast up, hahaha!

...but anyway, YEAH: a Chris Miller (Rear Admiral on the helm, yo!) screenplay with Rian Johnson would be just amazing. Realistically however, we should probably look at directors who are willing to work with screenplays. I feel like Denis Villeneuve would rock the heavy war and bleak undertones of Act 2, but not sure if he'd be sold to the space fantasy concept Star Wars has got going on. He seems to prefer hard Sci fi instead.
