SPECULATION Agent Kallus in A New Hope

    The end of the opening scene in ANH is when C3-PO and R2-D2 use the escape pods, but are not destroyed because someone made the remark that there were no life signs on board.

    For years, this scene has been made fun, as it sounded like a dumb decision made by the superior officer in charge, and it could have saved the Empire of course.

    The name of this imperial officer is unknown. According to the ANH script, ithe character is just 'captain'.

    INT. IMPERIAL STARDESTROYER​
    On the main viewscreen, the lifepod carrying the two terrified
    robots speeds away from the stricken Rebel spacecraft.

    CHIEF PILOT
    There goes another one.

    CAPTAIN
    Hold your fire. There are no life
    forms. It must have been short-
    circuited.​



    We don't see the face of this captain, but I think there is a chance this could be Agent Kallus. He just needs to shave, get an imperial hat and a rank promotion (assuming agent is below captain). But most importantly and challenging: remain undercover and alive. Thrawn is closing in on him.

    I hope Kallus makes it all the way to this moment in ANH, as this kind of interference is something I can see doing it while playing Fulcrum.

    The episode description of the upcoming Through Imperial Eyes (February 25): "Fearing that the Empire will soon discover the identity of a rebel spy, the Rebels launch a plan to rescue him before his capture." I would not be surprised if the rebel spy in case is Agent Kallus.

    My theory is that Agent Kallus becomes Crix Madine. He goes to that name to protect his identity when he turns to the Rebels. I doubt this would happen, but it would be cool if something like that did happen

    Based on that Rebels description, it doesn't sound like Agent Kallus will be sticking around the Empire for much longer. But I like this theory. It is kind of like how we recently learned that Galen Erso is responsible for the weakness in the Death Star. Maybe the Rebels will recruit another undercover Fulcrum?
