Lucasfilm continues to reach out to a wide variety of directors for their television projects, and Ahsoka appears to be no exception. Peter Ramsey, one of the directors of the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, will make his live-action directing debut with at least one episode of the upcoming Disney Plus series.

The Hollywood Reporter broke this news moments ago, indicating that Ramsey will be one of the show's directors and not necessarily the only one. (It is currently unclear how many episodes he is going to direct, just as it is unclear how long the show is going to be.) Filming is expected to begin this month, as Lucasfilm have been actively preparing work on the series for quite some time. It is possible that the current filming schedule on the series may allow Lucasfilm to showcase something for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim attendees, but that remains to be seen.

Like Ahsoka Tano character creator Dave Filoni (who is writing and showrunning this series, which he will executive produce alongside Jon Favreau), Ramsey's background is in animation, and he will be using a Star Wars television series as his first foray into live-action directing. Aside from Into the Spider-Verse, Ramsey worked on multiple animated projects, including the television special Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space, the feature film Rise of the Guardians, and a segment on the Netflix animated anthology We the People. Before directing, Ramsey did a lot of storyboard work for movies such as Independence DayMen in Black, and Fight Club. Ramsey is also working on the live-action movies Blood Count and Love in Vain, both of which seem set to film after Ahsoka.

Ahsoka is expected to follow up on the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels, which is set years after the events of the main series and presumably after Ahsoka Tano's guest appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. That story left her, and Sabine Wren, one of the show's central characters, off to search for Grand Admiral Thrawn, who was last seen having his ship hijacked into parts unknown by series protagonist Ezra Bridger. Ezra saved Ahsoka from certain death, and she made a promise that she would find him one day. It is expected, but not officially confirmed, that Ezra and Thrawn will both make their live-action debuts in this series due to their importance in this open-ended storyline.

Ahsoka is expected to arrive on Disney Plus at some point in 2023. The show's cast includes Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ivanna Sakhno in unidentified roles, and Ray Stevenson as an Imperial Admiral who is speculated by fans to be Gilad Pellaeon, Thrawn's understudy and ally.

Transitioning to to film, looking forward to this series since I'm a fan of Rebels. Great news to say the least.
