Exciting News: Star Wars Meg announced over the weekend that it looks like Asoka will appear in Season 3 of the Mandalorian before the start of her own series in 2023.

It’s possible that this could just be early rehearsal or something ahead of when the Ahsoka series starts shooting. I could see her popping up in Mando again though.

She’s been rumored to show up again in
    The Bad Batch
    as well.

I'd said this move is more to get the casual fans on board. I would say most watching Mando had no clue who Ahoska was. Or hell what the name drop of Thrawn meant.

Lucasfilm is reeeeeally going to want to start making something like the Marvel’s Legends series on Disney+ for all of these animated characters coming into live-action. Ahsoka’s becoming more and more mainstream as a character but a lot of people are going to need to know who Ezra, Sabine, Thrawn, etc. are so that the show doesn’t waste much time reiterating what we’ve already seen in TCW and Rebels.

That’s why I think that we’ll also see Ahsoka in
Kenobi. I think that show will have a ton of eyes on it and would be good promotion for the Ahsoka series if she pops up in one of the inevitable Clone Wars flashbacks featuring Hayden and Ewan. They’ll probably have to get a younger actress to play her here as it would be very awkward to de-age Rosario Dawson into a teenager’s body.

It may also save them from having to do more Clone Wars flashbacks to establish the bond between Anakin and Ahsoka in her series as well.

This could be evidence of what you're referring to.

But casual fans didn't need to know Ahsoka's backstory to be enthralled by her episode of The Mandalorian. Except for the Thrawn name-drop, the story was self-contained.

But you can rest assured that following that episode, Disney+ saw a big bump in viewership for their Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. :)
