Yes, a thread dedicated to that awesome set of scenes in TBOBF where they "rebuild" a Naboo N-1 starfighter into Din's new ride. I grew up in aircraft maintenance and supply in the US Air Force so those scenes were so cool. I know a couple folks on here can relate too @Trevor . The base I work at now, Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, overhauls all of the USAF KC-135, B-52, B-1 and E-3 aircraft and also just about every engine as well. I don't work in maintenance in my current job, but in the Defense Logistics Agency....we attempt to get all the spare parts they need. Every year we issue over 600,000 parts costing around $700-800 million.....quite an operation.

Here is the scene from TBOBF and some scenes from my work, you can see some similarities...

I grinned when I saw that scene....

In my 25 years of aviation maintenance, most of my time was spent on helicopters, and was a crew chief, so I always got to take the maintenance test flights, and my favorite machines to work on and fly in were Cobras and Little Birds....total hot rods.

Of course, in the midst of all of that, I learned to fly, and oftentimes imagined being a pod racer in some of the more high performance machines....something I still miss today.

I left that industry 6 years ago, but the geek never leaves you.

    Some of mine:

Me out on a fire in California, rotors turning and getting ready to lift after refuel...here comes the fire.

Landed 5 machines on a high school football field on prom night, and delivered all of the king/queen candidates. This one was well choreographed, at night, and a little tense, but we pulled it off.

I'll dig out some of my old maintenance pictures and post a few...I've got HUNDREDS...

I grinned from ear to ear while watching the 'rebuild' scenes the first time because I knew there would be a whole bunch of old hotrod enthusiasts, airplane maintenance people, and SW spacecraft hobbiests geeking out bigtime over them. :) :) :)
