Mods, you can move this to another section if you see fit, but I figured we could discuss it here.

As per a comment on his recent Reddit AMA:
    http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2lirkx/i_am_aj_edwards_filmmaker_my_first_feature_on/clv7g1y

We all know Samuel L. Jackson has a very good working relationship with Marvel/Disney and he has expressed his interest in returning to the big screen in any capacity in Star Wars, in the future (I've heard him say it on multiple late night talk shows when Ep. 7 was announced). The only problem is, he is presumed dead in Revenge of The Sith.

I can't see Disney/Lucasfilm wanting to make a Mace Windu film based on a Clone Wars mission, we've gotten so much material between Episode II and III already, I don't really think there's any reason to continue to clog up that timeline, unless they do a loose adaptation of Matthew Stover's "Shatterpoint" novel (which I don't think would translate very well to the big screen). So are they going to "resurrect" his character from the moment he falls out of the window in Revenge of The Sith? Considering we're already getting a Boba Fett spin-off (and we're not sure if it's before or after he falls into the Sarlacc Pit), is it a good idea to "resurrect" Mace Windu post-Revenge of The Sith/pre-A New Hope? I think that would be the most compelling narrative, but I just feel it's kind of forced.

Either way, Samuel L. Jackson is an A-List Star, Mace Windu is a beloved Star Wars character (one of the bright spots of the prequels), and is essentially the 2nd most revered Jedi of his time (behind Yoda), and Samuel L wants to come back. And it's pretty much a lock to be a success at the box office. My main concerns are can AJ Edwards handle a Star Wars film with such a limited cinematic resume and can they create a compelling Mace Windu story, worthy of the silver screen? No matter what, count me in!

Interesting.. I'm wondering how are they gonna fix his character, since he was so boring.. It would be awesome to see Samuel L Jackson with some great script! the lines he had in Prequels were just boring and his character was like a cardboard cutout (but wasn't everybody like that?)

What's crazy to me is he said this on an AMA 10 days ago and virtually NO ONE except a guy named Bennihana at TFN forums has stumbled upon this. I've seen no news outlets, no rumor sites, nobody on twitter speak of it, nothing. I've tried to pass it on to some of the bigger figureheads in the SW community to see if they've heard anything about this and if Edwards is just blowing smoke or what he's saying is credible. Only time will tell.

Personally, as much as I like Samuel L Jackson, I hate the prequels more. I almost feel like I'd want the prequels to be wiped off the face of the earth.

So I'm kind of confused as to whether I would want a movie continuing the story of mace windu. One would have to assume that he'd be dead before the start of the original trilogy and if he wasn't, where the hell was he during it.

Wow, I am grateful that you brought this up. I wonder why no SW outlet has written about this story, especially considering the lull in rumors lately.

If he is directing a spin off, then I wonder how much leeway a director has in discussing a Star Wars movie. My guess is that he would be allowed to say a lot more about the movie than the actors - or at least its general topic. I look forward to updates :)

Ugh hope this is not true. I love Samuel L. Jackson but Mace Windu is one of the most boring, flat, one-dimensional characters of the prequels. There is not a single likeable thing about the character, an arrogant, pompous, self-righteous dick. Same can be said for most of the Jedi Council.

I was delighted when Palpatine kicked his ass.

The only likeable Jedi in the prequels were Obi Wan and Qui Gon.

Laser Brain lol nice word filter. Think he is more of a nerfherder myself

Look 7 hrs ago the Official German Star Wars Facebook account changed their wallpaper to one with Mace Windu.

And well, I LOVE Mace Windu! I want to see more, and we know almost NOTHING of him but. A live action big clone wars movie? Also not very much fun, huh?

I doubt it would take place during the Clone Wars. I'm speculating that Mace didn't die in RotS like we are supposed to think. The movie will probably take place in the same time frame as the new trilogy so maybe someone found him and put him in a carbon freeze and he is awaken like the Force later on.

It seemed facetious to me. He jumped from "We are talking about possibly doing one" to "It's about mace windu" I think he was joking guys. Sorry.

He seemed serious to me. Maybe he was joking, and if he was, he should never direct a comedy film!

If I remember correctly, Disney representatives said that they kind of want to stay away from the Force in the first spinoffs and focus on other aspects of the GFFA, with the noted exception of the Obi-Wan movie(s) they are talking about (which would not even come out until 2021 at the earliest).

I seriously hope that they're not actually going ahead with a storyline that says Mace is still alive. I did some nerding on YouTube tonight to prove there's literally no way he could be alive after his encounter with Palpatine. Here's the view downwards of the lanscape outside Palpatine's window:

And here's how far he got blown out of said window. (The red arrow shows you where he is):

I think that's it pretty much covered, don't you? :p
