Alden Ehrenreich is Young Han Solo!

AHH while I was partying on my bday you beat me to it (!) but Alden Ehrenreich seems to actually LOOK like Harrison Ford a bit more so it could make some sense .

 

Was good in Ave Cesar.

 

I'm not saying the guy's not talented but he does not look like Han Solo. I'll guess I might end up passing on this spin-off... but hopefully it's all rumours to be potentially debunked (you are correct, everyone was saying back then that Asa Butterfield would be Spiderman and nobody had Tom Holland in mind, so I hope that is the case!)

 

He looks nothing like him. Might as well have Michael B. Jordan play Han Solo.

Harrison Ford can't be replaced, and since he can't be replaced, a Solo spin-off film shouldn't even be made.

 

Still not sure I want this. I don't have a problem with other actors playing the character so much, but more with how we found Han in the Cantina in Star Wars. We all know how he ends up to that point, and it's kind of a low. It might be interesting though if it's some adventures and meeting Chewie and all that. Just his whole arc so far had be going from almost rock bottom to being a hero.

 

An actor is better than an impersonator. I don't want a lookalike I want good acting.

 

I can agree on the acting, but it has to be a combination of both. When they cast Obi-Wan for the prequels, obviously the different timeframes helped - Sir Alec Guinness being 63 when played as Kenobi on ANH - obviously getting a younger guy would give more flexibility in the looks. And obviously there is no question about the acting of Ewan MacGregor. However, casting a young Han Solo is dangerous since we would be looking for a guy to impersonate a Han Solo 10 years younger than the first we saw from Han in ANH.

Some might say: "Well, what about Anakin's casting? Hayden and Jake nowadays do not look that alike!" Well, that was a different case since the bigger load of the Anakin appearance was going to be - for better or for worse - Hayden's, not Jake. And obviously in 10 years from being a kid to be a young adult you would expect a lot of changes. But from the early twenties - late teen years (probable Han's age at the time of the spin-off) to the late twenties - early thirties (ANH Han Solo) we don't expect to see that much of a difference.

And I know Mon Mothma's recasting for Rogue One is a different case, since she is a secondary character, but LFL did a great job for what we've seen in the teaser! The actress looks slightly younger than we would expect, but other than that, she looks and sounds the same!! So I reckon there must be a balance between appearance and acting.

 

Actually casting crew are very good. They'll find a way to make it good.

 

It is probably being made due to fam demand .

Han Solo is supposed to be in his mid to late twenties in the spin off...the actor could be aided by minimal prosthetics similar to Ewan McGregor in ROTS.

In my opinion, the actor who plays a younger Han Solo does not need to look exactly like him. He needs to be able to capture the essence of the character. He needs to effectively display that Han Solo swagger. If he does that it will turn out fine.

 

There are some reports tonight he did get the part... waiting to see some more confirmation...

 

He's still finalizing everything apparently but idk about his look I mean, his acting can go so far but there has has to be some sort of minimal resemblance at the least which I don't see.

not the final deal yet... though It most likely will be. I should comment, though I am optimistic that this could turn out to be a great movie, this is one of those situations where I at least understand why some people are sceptical.

 

I honestly would have preferred someone like Miles Teller (please don't shoot me)

 

He looks more like BdT than Harrison Ford in my opinion .

 

Alden has to do an extremely well job before I can accept him as young Han Solo..

 

Just not seeing it. I hope that when they put him in costume and give him that shaggy 80's haircut then I will see what they see in him, because right now it looks like he just has a great agent who sold him well.
