A couple weeks ago I read someone post that there probably wasn't going to be a trailer due to the fact that no leaks had surfaced on the description of the 3rd trailer. We are now 15 days (almost 2 weeks) away from SDCC SW event, and disturbingly, nothing has indicated that there will be a trailer, at least nothing as strong as SWC back in April.

I have heard the idea that a scene or the first ten minutes would be displayed, but I find that idea somewhat unlikely. It just doesn't feel like they would do such a thing, because it would spoil/ruin some of the mystery of the film.

So, will we get a trailer at SDCC? Will there be a leaked description? When will we get the leaked description? Will the released material be SDCC exclusive (I hope not)?

We will most likely get our first full blown trailer. If JJ Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan is there we will without a doubt get a new trailer. They also said we would get a special guest so i'm assuming he/she would be someone that has a big role in the film. I highly doubt that we would get the first 10 minutes. I think that would be showing too much.

if there will be a trailer at SDCC it wont be an exclusive. My money is that we will see an actual preview this time. :D

It would be cool if in the trailer we see Finn/Rey OR LUKE clash lightsabers with Kylo Ren. #nerdgasm

Isn't the first rough cut rumored to be completed, and that now they are just finishing cgi shots, and recutting to improve the film?

I have no clue. With less than 6 months to go i'm pretty sure that the product is near complete minus a few CGI shots. Here's a description of Star Wars TFA Panel at SDCC:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Hall H

Lucasfilm president and producer Kathleen Kennedy, director J.J. Abrams, writer Lawrence Kasdan, and special guests provide a special look at Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Pretty sure it's the first trailer.

Also even though we had "descriptions" about the trailer before celebration, most of them turned out to be made up or drastically wrong. Even the MSW trailer description was only about 40% correct, and their leak came out about 5 days to a week before the trailer was shown if I remember correctly. We are still 2 weeks and some change from the event, but I expect we start seeing the trailer descriptions soon, both accurate and otherwise.....

I hope they're taking their time with the CGI shots, 6 months is plenty of time to tweak a lot of stuff. Did you see Age of Ultron? The first few minutes featured some of the worst CGI in today's cinema, though it improved tremendously as the film progressed; I took that as a sign that the production was a little rushed and they prioritized the ending over the beginning CGI shots (understandably; the audience can forgive a few mishaps at the beginning if the rest of the movie is worth it). I hope the next 6 months give them enough time to avoid cut-corners like that.

Plus, the score more than likely isn't finished; isn't recording the score like the last thing they do? When I hear reports of those sessions, I'll believe the film is nearly complete ;) .

Also, I'm almost positive we'll get the theatrical trailer at SDCC. "Almost" being the operative word there :p

People will NOT be happy if there is no trailer at SDCC. I don't think that Disney would risk pissing off the fans. There is an outside chance that we don't get it till D23 but SDCC has become such a monumental pop culture event that it would be insane not to release it.

That gives away too much of the plot. I could see them just showing them with their lightsabers out and on and not showing us the enemy.

I'll say this again. I remember this vividly that KK said that the film should be done by early summer then the scoring will start. The film won't be completely done meaning there still might be some touch up editing, reshoots and such, but from what I take of it, the gist of it should be done rather soon. Scoring has been going on all month and it might be done since the music was written already and it just needed to be recorded and edited into movie.

Age of Ultron was CGI heavy as compared to TFA with practical effects

They will probably be working on the CGI until the last possible moment like every other blockbuster. I don't see TFA being any different in that regard.

We'll get something, it's a marketing event, you reward your fans for paying attention to your commercial streams. What we get and how much we get is probably still a little in flux as we speak. I think the fact Marvel cleared out (besides Agent Carter, cool show if I may add) speaks volumes that they want Star Wars buzz to reach another level and to be the central focus of the Disney+Christmas retail symbiosis that is at the core of TFN's success.

And that's just a fancy way of saying, "don't worry dude, trailer or no, we fan boys are gonna get something cool." :)

I think due to the fact of Disney pretty much giving JJ a blank check to do this project, there will be more editors and such on this project because they could afford them. Remember JJ asking that this film be released even later than it is now because he might not have time? Disney responded with that blank check and said get it done ASAP (I assume) meaning hire who you have to hire to get it done. You can't have 2 SW movies coming out in 2016, 6 months apart. Disney's plan all along was to continue SW movies and off-shoots of it. Gotta make that $4B back, right?

I'm gonna say "No" to a full trailer @SDCC, but perhaps a new teaser...no bets tho. IF there is a full trailer released at an event, It'll be at D23.

Until they announced the SDCC attendance, i thought it was a dead certainty that the full trailer was turning up at D23. However with that SDCC announcement and having JJ LK and KK all show up, there might be a synopsis and a trailer at SDCC, with D23 now featuring a re-showing of the trailer and hyping up rogue one.

    IMO of course

I'm thinking there will be new footage of either a new teaser or trailer, whatever you want to call it. For Marvel and some of the others to not even show up, tells me that they know all the attention is on Star Wars this year, and DC with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. I bet Harrison Ford is contracted to show up this time. But, as I have stated before, I really hope we don't get to see too much footage, like they did with Age of Ultron and Jurassic World. Too many different clips and TV spots.

I'd be shocked if they don't show SOME kind of trailer (full or teaser). They're plenty far enough along to show a full trailer if they wanted to. But I suspect JJ may go with another teaser to keep a lid on the plot as long as possible. Either way I bet we'll start hearing rumors about it very soon.

...oh and the poster will be unveiled at comic-con for sure.
