I’d find it very interesting if there was a split in the ranks of the FO

One of the things I'm hoping for with Episode IX is a return of Anakin. It would be entirely fitting and powerful, I believe.

It would also fit in with my personal hope of IX being more of a mystical / spiritual conflict at a higher level, at the Force, where competing visions of Dark vs. Light yield powerful, metaphorical, allusive, and amazing scenarios tying all the movies and Skywalker/etc. arcs together.

For example, imagine Anakin, Luke, Ben, and Yoda each taking turns teaching (or trying to teach) Ben Solo valuable lessons about the Dark Side and the Light (much like the ghosts of the past and present in Dickens' A Christmas Carol.)

At one point, imagine if Anakin decides to "resurrects" Vader (actually Vader's armor), reanimating / conjuring up a Force-vision of Vader (a la the Dagobah cave) wherein Vader duels Kylo.

This could be incredibly powerful visually, I believe, and offer Kylo a variety of things, such as a chance to confront his "hero," see how he thinks he compares with Vader, as well as a means to realize the Vader he idolized was actually lacking when compared with Anakin Skywalker.

Just one possible scenario among many others as to how this could happen:

    ____________________________________

Obi-Wan or Yoda, for example, fail to make any headway with Kylo, and Anakin steps forth to indicate perhaps it's time to get a little more "Force"-ful with Kylo after Kylo declares himself the ultimate power in the universe.

"No one can beat me!" Kylo boasts.

Kylo's chamber goes dark, then the classic Vader breathing in the background followed by the ignition of Vader's red lightsaber.

"No one?" Vader asks, stepping from the shadows. The Imperial/Vader musical theme crescendos.

Kylo looks on with utter bewilderment and twisted admiration. "Grandfather! You come to me! At last!"

Vader: "You are unwise to lower your defenses!"

Vader lunges up, over, and toward at Kylo with a furious and relentless series of lightsaber strikes.

Kylo barely has time to prepare and block the blows while finding himself retreating and fearful as never before.

"You never truly learned who your grandfather was," Vader taunts.

Kylo nervously retorts, "It was you! Vader! Dark Lord of the Sith!"

The scene dimly reveals, in this vision, the setting is Cloud City, on the scaffold where Luke once was.

In a flash, Vader easily "disarms" Kylo (much like Luke).

Vader: "You are wrong! My name is Anakin! Anakin Skywalker!"

Kylo wakes up, marvels his arm is whole again, only to suddenly face a blue lightsaber held by Anakin Skywalker.

Anakin: "I once thought as you, Ben. That the Dark Side was more powerful. That it had the answers I was looking for. I was wrong."

Kylo cannot believe this. "Compassion. Such weakness! You could have been the most powerful! You failed. But I'll do it! I'll finish what you started!"

Kylo calls to his own lightsaber. Anakin easily intercepts and slices it in half with his blue blade.

Anakin stresses: "Ben, you don't know the power of the Light!"

The vision fades. Kylo is back in his chamber, visibly shaken.

He drops to his knees, slams the floor with his hands, and all the glass windows burst apart in his private chamber in Vader's castle on Mustafar.

    ____________________________________

At this point, it would be my hope Ben begins to realize Anakin was more powerful than Vader.

And perhaps, at this point, both Rey and Luke could step forth to convince Ben to rejoin the Light.

Perhaps a new dire external / unexpected challenge then demands Ben to renounce Kylo, wise up, and rejoin the Light.

Just some ideas, but I think there are plenty of imaginative possibilities IX could and should persue to bring about a major conclusion to the Skywalker storyline, if that's still a priority / goal for this Sequel Trilogy.

I get confused with the ReyLo term as I don’t know if fans mean they are related and secretly tied to the light and dark, or an actual couple?

If they end up a couple at the end of Episode 9, then that would put a real damper on this Trilogy. This guy murdered Han Solo in TFA, tried to kill Luke Skywalker in TLJ and Rey ends up being his lover? . Maybe I’m wrong and ReyLo means they are cousins or secretly siblings.

Thanks, as I’ve heard the term but just wanted to clear it up.

Do fans really want that? Padme never saw Anakin’s crimes and once he choked her she lost the will to live. Rey saw Kylo kill his father in person, and people still want them to be a couple?

I think I’m getting out of touch with SW fans in my old age! Lol!

She knew that Anakin murdered a village of sand people ("I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I hate them!"). Furthermore Obi-Wan told her that he killed Jedi students.

I don't need it. But I see it happening. Especially because to have the opportunity for new Skywalker offsprings.

Reylo is btw the wrong term. Reylo would mean a couple of Kylo and Rey, and that's nonsense. ReyBen is correct. Rey wants Ben Solo and not Kylo Ren.

I agree that something has to give to bring the sequel more in line with the whole saga. With Snoke influencing Ben his whole life, one would think that any manipulation would be gone with him. Kylo and Rey did force skype after Snoke's death, some things aren't adding up for me. With no Skywalker protagonist, Kathleen Kennedy's comments of the ST being about family and love seem to fall pretty short for what we've seen so far. For everything that has happened the redemption path seems like the only way to save the saga and the Skywalker name. The problem is with Snoke gone, and Rey still around there's a lot of spinning to do to fix this if they go another route. I love Rey, but she makes no sense in the big picture of the saga. I can't wait to see how it all finishes up.

I think Snoke was lying. He didn't set up the force connection between Kylo and Rey, he just used it for his advantage.

We have a Skywalker protagonist though...

Maybe it's not about saving the Skywalker name, but "destroying" it.
