Would you have liked it if in ROTJ Luke reveals Anakin's mistakes and mysterious death of his mother

  1. No, I liked how the OT kept Vader's past mostly a mystery.

  2. Yes, I think that would have added even more depth to both Vader/Anakin's character and the films.

What IF Luke researched his fathers past after learning it was Vader all along? Would you have liked it if in ROTJ Luke reveals Anakin's mistakes and mysterious death of his mother during the final showdown between he and the Emperor?

Vader: 'Give yourself to the darkside.. It is the only way to save your friends..'

Luke: ' The same way the dark side saved Padme?! MY MOTHER!!

The one reason I wouldn't totally be against this is because I love things that unite the three trilogies together. That would be cool.

But otherwise, I don't know. I like in the comics how it's clear that even OT Vader is still very driven by Padme, but I just don't feel it fitting in the OT films. Excited to see other posts from people on this though, maybe I'll have my mind changed.

Not really. A research scene feels like something out of the PT. Luke had the Force so the searching his feelings and knowing it to be true worked for me, and just in case there's any doubt he got confirmation from Yoda and Ben's "From A Certain Point Of View" speech. That was going to be needed anyway to clear up what he said in ANH. I didn't feel like Vader needed more depth of character, the mystery worked well for him.

A scene from Anakin's past in "Return of the Jedi" would have been unnecessary, especially since his backstory was told in the Prequel Trilogy.
