As we already know, John Boyega recently said that the final chapter of the ST will feature a "war to end all wars".

Like I mentioned in another thread, the only explanation for this would be that TLJ ends in a similar fashion to AOTC - In other words, a full scale galactic war of some sort breaks out where multiple star systems and hundreds of planets gets involved. Then there would be a significant time jump between TLJ and IX depending on how long this war takes. The Clone Wars in the prequels lasted for around 3 years, and our real World War I lasted for a bit more than 4 years. So I'd say anything between 2-4 years sounds likely.

My question to you would be:

    - What do you think this galactic war would be called? And what sort of armies would be involved? Vote in the poll or post your own suggestions below!

Personally, I wonder how both sides would be able to assemble enough armies to battle. There are no Sith and not enough Jedi (by the end of TLJ there will obviously only be 1 Jedi left in the whole galaxy), and there are no clone armies that we know of. Are we going to see the return of droid armies? Or is there a hidden clone army somewhere? Will both sides use clones or droids?

    My idea would be:

    THE STORM WARS

As a reference to stormtroopers, my guess is that we'll witness some kind of revolt within the First Order in TLJ led by Finn. This will cripple the First Order's armies and force them to build an army of droids that look like stormtroopers. FO deserters will either join the Resistance or commit lone attacks against the FO. The outcome would be the start of the Storm Wars, a full scale galactic war lasting 4 years.

I personally don't think that we'll get clones or droids again, but...
JJ did recently say IX will reference the prequels.

Then there's that line in TFA about clones. Maybe they'll go back to it again. And maybe the Republic will start using droids, in lieu of people. That'd be an interesting switch, I guess.

I could see droid armies returning. Not clones. Order 66 (hopefully) will have taught the galaxy its lesson.
