Ben Solo/Kylo Ren...same person to me.
Regarding diminishing...let me explain. We all have our fave characters, but let's put all that aside and focus on the 'bare bones'....this was the last film in the Skywalker saga. So, naturally the focus should have been on the ...Skywalkers. It's why so many were convinced Rey was a long lost child of Luke, and why reylos, like myself, thought there would be a love story between the characters of Rey and Ben.
But TROS dramatically cut back all of Kylo's scenes...he ended up with less screentime than Rey AND Finn...who I must say, with respect, was conceived as a supporting character (learned this from the Art Book of TFA). He even had less screen time than Poe, who was supposed to be killed off after five minutes.

This was supposed to be the last film about the SKYWALKERS. If they wanted it to be about a stormtrooper and a desert scavenger, they could have made a spin off film, like Rogue 1, or a tv series, like Mando. Han Solo was a supporting character, but his love for Leia made him an honorary Skywalker. Which is why reylos thought the film would end with Kylo and Rey as a couple, like a 'reverse' Han and Leia, which would benefit both of them - Kylo/Ben Solo finding someone who finally understood him, and turning back to the light for love, Rey at last finding a family.

Which is why I'm so baffled that at the end of the day...the final chapters of the SKYWALKER saga....were about someone else. If that was all they were going to do, they could have left the Skywalkers alone and made Rey and Finn their own film, or tv series.

The fact that they chose to make her a Palpatine was the final insult.

You clearly didn't put it aside.

Sounds like Ben Solo should have lived to change his name to Ben Skywalker in order for him and the name to not be diminished in your eyes. Yeah. Since he already killed his own father I suppose it makes no difference if he just chucks his given name in the trash too and adopts the name of the uncle who "tried to murder him in his sleep" instead.

Like I said. Anyone who still thought , after TFA, that Ben's redemption would not coincide with his death in the final episode, was seriously deluding themselves.

Okay, fine let's agree to disagree.

Meanwhile...I heard that Trevorrow got some flak for Book of Henry? Can anyone out there tell me why?

As the end of the Skywalker saga, it makes sense to me that it would end with no more blood-related Skywalkers around. Otherwise, it wouldn’t really be the end.

I mean, I think it’s one of those “nobody said it but everyone knows it” sort of things, that Trevorrow got dumped from Star Wars because Book of Henry was so bad.

I actually just saw Book of Henry for the first time a few weeks ago. It’s a so-bad-it’s-funny movie. Truly baffling piece of storytelling.

Maybe it's because he's actually a SOLO & those fans are ALSO so ticked off that Luke got Kenobi'd and never got to have any fun time to make real SKYWALKER babies with Mara Jade or some other force hottie? Or, maybe it's just the internet. :p

So end means death. That's boring. An end can also be a new beginning. IMO the best ending for the Skywalker saga would have been the breaking of the Skywalker curse.

Ben Solo redeems himself and survies to rebuild and protect the galaxy.

What I would have liked? No more Sith or Jedi, no more 'galactic governments.'
Instead, a 'grey Jedi order' and planets ruling themselves. It would have been...different.

And @Ninja Ren..I wanted that as well. Why kill them off? You can end a saga without killing them off.
