    Because Ben Mendelsohn's normal voice for this character would be terrible.

    Any clues from interviews etc?

    If not well...

    I would imagine his voice will sound like the one he used throughout the series Bloodline, His voice came across pretty convincingly as a really bad kind of guy you wouldn't want to deal with on a regular basis. Dirty, underhanded and conviving and menacingly ruthless in getting want he thought he was owed.

    I dont think this scene is a god judge of his character at all because he's playing "American" and Krennic is more put together and menacing instead of...whatever this is...I hadnt heard of the actor before R1 so I guess that's why I'm willing to give him more of a shot
    .

    I think we got a little sneak-peak of his voice at the R1 Panel @ SW Celebration (which I was fortunately in the crowd for).

    Normally he has an Aussie accent but I think he'll be going for a strong English accent similar to Tarkin.
