Are all the new TV spots and magazine articles giving away too much?

After the full trailer was released, I felt satisfied. I at least had enough to hold me until release day.

Then the international trailer came out. I resisted watching it...for about 2 days.

Then all the TV spots hit. I watched the first TV spot ("I know your eyes!"), but after that, I stopped watching any of the new material coming out, didn't read the EW articles, etc. For those that HAVE watched all the new material, do you feel it's too much? Do you feel spoiled?

I totally get that they need to hook the general audience, but I'm really wary of seeing any more new footage at this point. And it looked like the EW article shared a lot of stuff - I just looked at the cover and saw the various headlines about Leia and the superweapon, and was like "gah, I don't need to know any of that yet!".

I've really tried to avoid looking at SWNN or the Cantina at all, but it's tough!

i feel its too much only because they withheld everything for 3 years

seriously... avoid all that stuff.. we did see enough with the two teasers and the trailer

i myself am a complete cynic when it comes to this movie. i wont be convinced its good till the end credits roll but i WANT it to be good. that stems from the prequels and the fact that i have yet to like anything jj as ever done. i stood up screaming in the middle of star trek when spock mentioned he came back in time through a black hole.. so far from all ive seen it looks ok .. hopefully its good.. i hope its as entertaining as Guardians of the Galaxy

why keep all this secret for the die hards seeking it out if youre just going to release it all before the movie anyway?

i think disney had a knee jerk reaction or something.. it was recently reported they weren't satisfied with the pre-ticket sales (a record breaking 50 million dollars in pre-sales or 25% of the movie budget) because it only represents the die hards that were going to see it anyway.. this media blitz is to get the average jane and joe in the seats

maybe it went something like this - JJ wanted the mystery.. disney agreed but said if tracking wasnt where they wanted it then they would do a major blitz

i cant believe this wont do well.. if the drones will pile into the theaters for transformers movies i would think they would go see this

I doubt that $50 million in advance sales was disappointing to Disney. It was probably the strategy all along to unleash a big wave of publicity about a month before the film's release. It's not like they could just decide at the last minute to have a gigantic cover feature in Entertainment Weekly.
Anyway, I have no problem with any of that, I just am personally trying to avoid it. But I was kind of curious if anyone here who HAS watched all the recent TV spots and read all the recent "official" articles felt they were getting too spoiler-y, or if they are still exercising restraint in what they reveal.

    they do consider it disappointing
lately companies have had unrealistic goals.. have you not seen the recent yo-yoing of stocks when estimates are off by a few cents? (thats a harbinger of an incoming large crash btw)

    as i mentioned already above
even though the 50 million was record breaking they feel it only represents the die-hard fans not the average movie goer

this movie is going to be called 'a flop' by the media if it doesnt have an unrealistic, never-before-seen opening in December.. they want 200 million even though the record is something like 80 million
Greed knows no bounds I guess.

Personally, I don't mind it. It's nice to immerse myself in the universe before I go in, and honestly, the big plots points—the secrets and twists—I'm not going to dig for, but in the end I'm interested in seeing the film as a product, not just a story.

That, and I have no willpower, so I'm gonna gobble up everything I can.

I wish I hadn't read that children's book article about
About Max Von Sydow'character with Poe and stormtroopers coming in and bb8 in the desert and Han being Maz Kanata's old apprentice etc,

I feel like I learned too much and saw too much (pictures). Also upset with the similarities to ANH

I have kept up with much of the leaks and rumor mill, so all I have been seeing plot-wise is confirmation of previous leaks. It's pretty much in line with what MSW, King3000 and others have been reporting. Most of the concept art leaked to us has been shown to be accurate. Third act still remains murky.. but everything is kind of falling into place.

    Absolutely yes!

The magazines don't bother me, but can't believe they are showing so much new material with each new TV spot. Between the official trailer, international trailer, and all these tv spots I feel like I've seen half the movie. I half expect tv spot 12 to reveal Rey's family lineage. Enough already Disney!

They did such a good job keeping everything under wraps for so long why are they spoiling so much? JJ has to be losing his mind with each new Comercial.

Yep. After the international trailer came out, I've consumed zero new Star Wars information. I don't watch any commercials - I change the channel if one comes on. I stopped listening to Star Wars podcasts (Jedi Alliance, Jedi Council, Far Far Away, etc.). I've learned/seen all I want to see. I've even frequented the Cantina much less frequently. No more for me.

I saw teaser, teaser-trailers 1-2 + 15 sec from instagram and Reel from CC. Plus some leaked art. That's it.
Less is more...always) Just don't watch everything.
