It's cute that you guys think that Disney won't find new ways to milk the cash cow.

Of course they will. Its all about profit. They will milk the crap out of SW for at least a decade.afterwards they will sell the whole thing and someone will do a reboot.

I have no doubt. I just hope they wait a decade or so between saga films.

It probably won't be that long, but I definitely think that they'll wait.

I can only realistically hope for 8 years.

    EP9-2019
    spinoff 3- 2020
    kotor 1-2021
    SO 4- 2022
    kotor2 -2023
    SO 5- 2024
    Kotor3- 2025
    SO 6- 2026
    EP 10-2027

Insert Kenobi trilogy if you prefer :). I like that the first 3 trilogies are generational affairs. Let's give Daisy some time to star in other things, or the option to not be the main character of X-XII.

I really, really don't think that they're going to do an Old Republic-era movie for as long as EA are going to put out new content for their non-canon game. Which is going to be a while, because that game is still making money, even if it's no World Of Warcraft. But I do think that they'll fit a continuous narrative into their schedule somewhere between now and whenever Episodes X, XI and XII arrive.

2027 is the perfect year 4 Episode X. The 50th anniversary of SW.

They can digitally age the cast younger or older & the technology will be much better .

During an broadcast of HBO Boxing several years ago. Jim Lampley once asked Larry Merchant if X and X would ever fight.
His answer, "how fast can you spell money?"

I think after Ep IX, there will be another trilogy, but it will be apart from the Skywalker Trilogy. My guess is it will cover the war between the Jedi and the Sith. By that time, in my opinion, Star Wars fans will have seen plenty of nostalgia and be ready for something new. A trilogy taking place that far back, with the promise of massive lightsaber battles (can you imagine the trailers?!?), would give the franchise fresh life. Slide in a spin-off between each episode of the trilogy, and then once the Sith War trilogy is complete, give us the Final Trilogy, Eps X-XII. Just an idea, but I agree with everyone who said they should give at least 10 years between Episode IX and Episode X.

My mind says "yes, duh: money"

My heart says that a saga film not scored by John Williams would be wholly different in feel and structure, and that they might as well make X, XI and XII a new trilogy with new characters separate to the Skywalker storyline. Why bind themselves into a creative corner?

Before they attempt to carry on the original saga I myself would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them begin a Knights of the Old Republic Saga and nail it. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking more forward to the strong possibility of that then I am continuing the current saga. It's a bonus to see more after Lucas's 6 episodes, but let's be honest, Lucas pretty much wrapped it all up with ROTJ..

I agree... It would be cool if Episode X and onward were about another group or family, or maybe even another facet of the Star Wars universe, beyond that of the Force and Force users (if there is such a thing). There would be callbacks where appropriate, but they could be little connections that send chills down your spine rather than the main focus of the story. And as a plus, something like that would allow them to move on, in a tasteful way, when John Williams is no longer with us.

Is this all too radical? :p

In my personal opinion, Lucasfilm are very aware that they have such an era on their hands. The endless possibilities could lead to striking revelations in this timeline and that one (for example, I've always thought that Revan should be the one to prophesy the Chosen One) which could create a new nostalgia in and of itself. Not to mention the new stuff we could see alongside callbacks to Legends (a lot of characters could easily come back Thrawn style).

My personal belief is that they will focus on the Old Republic era for 5-10 years (TV shows, games, saga, etc.) after a much needed break - or end - after the current trilogy. Not only would it make them heaps more money, it's a great move for the fans also, and keeps in line with the actions we've seen them take so far.

Not at all! Discussions such as these will be raging on like the "Rey is XXXXX's daughter" arguments after the sequel trilogy closes. I seriously have my doubts as to whether or not IX will be the final traditional, Skywalker focused saga film, and if not, I don't think they will go beyond XII personally: the two circles could intertwine perfectly for an infinite circle theory, physically and thematically focused.
