After seeing tonight's latest commercial I'm getting seriously concerned with how much content they are revealing. It seems like each new TV spot spoils something new and significant with either new footage or new dialog. Between the official trailer, international trailer and all the new TV spots, I feel like I've seen half the movie already.

Im exaggerating a little but seriously has anyone added up how many minutes of footage is out there now? Seems like they are showing WAY to much to me. They did such a good job of keeping things under wraps for so long why are they showing so much now? I feel like any day now they're going to go Terminator Genisys and reveal Rey's lineage in the next TV spot. Its getting to the point where I don't want to see any more do to over spoilage. Am I alone on this?

I'm of the belief that if I know what I'm getting into beforehand I can enjoy it better. This way I can pick up on small bits and pieces that anyone else would just gloss over until their second reading/viewing. For example: I knew the ending to Aftermath, Lost Stars, and Dark Disciple before I read them. I have enjoyed two of the three books despite knowing the ending. Dark Disciple I'm struggling with because the description of the Dark Side literally made my stomach turn (which is a good thing, I guess).

I also suffer from some serious stress mid-movie if I don't know what's going to happen. I've bothered the hell out of my husband by asking him to just tell me how it ends so I can stop feeling like I have an exam I didn't know about the next morning.

So tl;dr: Spoilers let me stress less and "see" more of the movie on the first go. With my biggest fandoms I will spoil myself.

I feel like they're showing too much, but I keep watching it haha. I think I have strung together the overall order of the scenes/locations based on what I have seen, but I still think I will enjoy the movie because I know there's a lot more I haven't seen.

Maybe the hardcore fans feel like it's too much because we read and watch every news piece that is released, while the general public has only seen a few trailers/tv spots.

Well, we've seen enough now to know that the MSW plot details were more or less completely accurate.
IMO, it is probably too much, but they're trying to hype this thing so...

It's about 6 minutes or so... definitely less than 10.
There's still another 120+ minutes that we haven't seen.

    I agree.

Right now I'll take as much footage as I can get before the movie.

I enjoy trying to figure it all out, and then seeing how right or wrong I am.
It's like how I read a bunch of book spoilers for Game of Thrones, and then compare that to the show.

Oh yeah that's me. I spoiled every big event except the end of season 1 due to spoilers but I was more than okay with it. It made it interesting to pick up the bread crumbs left behind.

The other thing to keep in mind is that although there are tons of spoilers something written in text cannot convey what's on the screen. Also a lot of the leaks don't have dialogue and any in depth descriptions of reactions. I read Harry Potter book 1 before I saw the movie and the movie was equally enjoyable beacause of what the book couldn't give: music, real live visuals, spoken dialogue, etc. That's how I view reading spoilers.

I guess it depends on who's perspective you are refering to.

If you have been reading all of the spoilers, that is an unfair perspective because it is the spoilers that are really revealing context for the scenes, while the scenes themselves reveal next to nothing. So the problem really isn't that they are showing too much, the problem is you read to many spoilers under the asumption that half of them were probally not true, and now you are blaming the trailers for showing too much when they likely show less than 5 minutes of actual footage collectively (I know someone else said 6 minutes but that still sounds high to me) with no context to understand story points the scenes may convey.

What have they really shown? A desert planet, snow planet, storm troopers, lightsabers, droids, star destroyers, and actors announced over a year ago. Seems like they are limiting greatly the brand new content, hence the accusations of a New Hope reboot. And how can you know what they havn't shown when they haven't shown it yet? It would be like if I offered to give you money to pay for something, and I give you said money, and you tell me I gave you too much even though you don't know how much the item costs.

From the perspective of someone that has not been reading spoilers, they have no clue what the movie is about from the trailers other than its a Star Wars movie and it looks amazeballs.

The fact that they have not shown Luke in any marketing (except the possible image of him in a black hood touching R2 in the 2nd teaser) concerns me as his storyline will make or break the movie.

It's almost like they are putting all their eggs in one basket and however they handle Luke will be pure genius or possibly ruin the movie.

I can see where you are coming from, but I disagree. Sure, they have like 10 different tv spots, each one with a little bit of new footage, but we still know close to nothing about the overall story. Most of the shots we've seen are from the same small number of scenes. I'm personally still very intrigued and excited for the film.

In a perfect world, Teaser #3/Trailer #1 would have been the last footage from the film released until December 17th. But this is not a perfect world...

I was actually mostly onboard with the secrecy after the aforementioned trailer. We're so close that scraps of footage are no longer needed. It's not even very exciting to see them anymore.
