SPECULATION Attention to ANH & ROS details in RO

    I don't like the term Easter eggs if something is germane to the plot.

    As I predicted, Bail Organa does appear in RO per the BTS video, and he is standing next to a white bearded dude in a long coat.
    I assume they at Yavin 4 in that scene.
    I assume he's the guy standing around the war room circular holographic table and who gives the trench run briefing. Resurrecting that character (no pun intended) is some next level attention to detail.

    The Xwings & TIEs have been in every film since ROS in some form, the StormTroopers & Star Destroyers since AOTC, so they're just a given.

    We've already seen that the Rebel soldiers from Leia's ship at the beginning of ANH (who do appear later at Yavin IV but of course are famous for being a bunch of side burned white guys who are the only military group with worse aim than Storm Troopers) but they were kind of expected.

    We've seen Mon Mothma, Organa, and Rebel Leader Moses so far in RO.

    What other obscure detail do you think they will pull from ANH, etc. to include in the plot of RO or as exposition for ANH, etc.

    Personally, I'm going to predict that RO shows some guys (and at least one spunky brunette English starlet) wearing those boss yellow pleather jackets like Luke is wearing when he gets his medal.

    I'm sorry but unless there was a PX or Rebel shopping mall, that thing never made sense, despite that it ranks up there with Han's Hoth jacket as the coolest costume pieces in Star Wars.

    Gareth has impressed me (and vindicated a crazy prediction of mine) with stiff like using a Bail Organa as a plausible plot device.

    What has the man who, by his own words is "doing something new and different" going to use the the established film cannon to tell this story?

    The blind force user mentions a Jedi beacon from Coruscant warning all Jedi to stay away, a "ranom" cornelian freighter, The Tantive IV, Vader's special TIE, Captain Rex (not mentioned by name though), Geonosis irradiation, Wedge Antilles (not specifically mentioned by name),

    Honestly hoping Cassian just is a front for Biggs. Recruiting and all, ya ya, just all to make a good fake profile. The rebellion is in the beginning stages of its alliance, and to see him fake it till he makes it would be heartbreaking, knowing he dies later. But I guess that won't happen.

    Slim chances, I agree, but would make this even more war-like, imo. There are a lot of WWII parallels and visuals in the released Rogue One trailers and footage so far, and seeing who boys, 14-17, would fake their ages to go to war, and even identities, that could be a cool thing for Biggs to do.

    Biggs defected from the imperial academy to the rebellion, at that time he was a grown up and a graduated pilot from that academy. So I don’t think that he was underage or has to forge any personal documents to be accepted by the alliance to restore the republic. ;)

    Maybe, but isn't that the EU version of his backstory? I think the canon says he just joined up with the Rebellion before ANH.

    I guess it depends if deleted scenes are canon. If they are, Biggs hadn't joined the Rebels when the droids crashed on Tatooine

    On Wookiepedia, they’re treated as such. Also, I think there was something that the godfather Pablo once said, as long as such a scene doesn’t contradict the movies (like Shaak Ti’s death by Grievous), they can be considered canon. But I might misremember that.

    I think they could throw in a digital Biggs at Yavin IV kind of the way they did Tarkin in ROTS. I mean hey, if Rebel Moses is back (always a personal favorite character who in retrospect likely was killed or just keeled over between ANH & ESB...real rebellions/terrorist groups have tons of turnover...I always liked that all 3 OT showed a few different leaders of the Rebellion. Though bringing Ackbar back is awesome), then why not put a digital version of Biggs off to the side talking to some pilots or whatever.

    Luke getting drunk with Biggs has never been included in any version of ANH so I don't think that's canon.

    Luke says to his Uncle, "that's what you said when Biggs & .... left"

    Clearly Biggs left for the academy and then defected to the rebellion well before ANH.

    If they can throw in CGI a shot of Biggs, Red Leader, or Porkins without it being too on the nose or like Livia Sopranos awful post mortem appearance, I will stand up and applaud in the theater before pelted into unconsciousness by flying dental retainers and captain plasma black series figures.

    I always wondered if the Toshi station scenes were cut because of the Royal scandal with Koo Stark (who had starred in the soft-core film "The Awakening of Emily") and Prince Andrew. It certainly would have tarnished the family-film aspect of Star Wars.

    Or maybe they just didn't add anything/messed with the timeline?

    I hope we see Wedge in this one; or at least a nod to the old EU...

    This is perhaps the only X-Wing squadron movie that will ever be made! So, give me some "Piggy", at the very least! :)

    It certainly has the vibe of one, title and all. :)
    But, really, I have not followed the overall conversation on R1; perhaps more of a spec-ops movie, as the trailer seems to suggest. I fully expect to see Corran Horn-isms, if the writers are worth their salt. :)

    I think they can have Vader, the Emperor and Rebel Alliance references up they a**. Even Prequel references about the Clones, etc. But I'd like to not see Han Solo or characters that had nothing to do with the battle during this time period shoe horned in.
