There are those who seem to believe they know more about film-making than James Cameron. According to them, he is a hack who got lucky with Titanic and Avatar(forget all the successes he had before those films). And the Avatar sequels are 100% guaranteed to be "disastrous bombs".

I'm not the gold-standard, film-making experts they are. My naivety leads me to give Cameron the benefit of the doubt when he says the sequels will be as visually ground-breaking and mind-blowing as compared to the first film as it was to all other films before it(and most since). This report about the under-water filming makes me think he will deliver exactly as he has boasted.

Personally, I can't wait for the first Avatar 2 3D trailer.

Considering every time there's a delay they tack on more sequels and push 2 back, by the time we get the 3rd, it will no longer be sci-fi because we'll have colonized a moon, we'll all be long dead, and they'll be up to planning the next 20 sequels. I liked avatar but I think it's at least a little overrated, and the longer part 2 takes, the more it's at risk of turning into blade runner, where the old fans don't care as much and the kids are oblivious to it, no matter how good it is. Star wars had a whole trilogy and much more devoted fan base prior to a 16 year gap in movies.

They're filming 2 and 3 right now so the delays - which were for needed filming technology advancements - are in the past. He had very similar technology delays for Titanic and Avatar. So it is business as usual for Cameron.

I may be mistaken, but i thought TPM got delayed for tech needs also.
