Remember how GREAT what a GREAT GUY Miles Teller was on the Fantastic Four set? He almost got into a fist fight with the director at some point, looks nothing like Harrison Ford but hey! At least he's uh... a human male?

    Seriously guys what the hell.

People bring up Whiplash as some kind of incredible acting achievement of his. The only reason I cared about what his character was going through is because of JK Simmons' incredible performance. He was ultimately forgettable. Not sure why everyone acts like he's hot blast.

I've known him for quite some time and from what I've heard his latest interview for the role went "very well." This worries me a little because I really don't want someone I know to be playing Han Solo... His acting skills are okay, but he needs to stick with what he does best romcoms and comedies.

I realize that it's a bit different situation, however had Harrison Ford stuck to what he was doing, he would be one hell of a drywall finisher at this point, rather than Han Solo.

At some point you have to put your trust in the process... While he didn't really "work out" in F4, this role may be a better fit, I don't know... Having the right people around him may make all the difference in the world. It's still early too... If he isn't working out to everyone's liking on-set, there is still time to re-cast. You can be sure that there is no shortage of people willing to fill the role.

Edited to say that I know the "drywall finisher" statement isn't entirely accurate, but Harrison Ford wasn't exactly a household name, and wasn't know as an up-and-coming actor at the time...

I know him from the Divergent series and he plays a cocky Scum-bag in that film.

He does, but I actually know him in real life. We went to school together for a long time. Like I said the casting agent for this movie really likes him, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the next Han Solo.

To be fair, it sounds as though Josh Trank was a complete ass-blaster to work with on the set of that film. He is said to have acted aloof or abusive to the crew and cast, and apparently at one point, he made Kate Mara cry.

I don't think that Miles Teller will get the part because Fant4stic essentially showed that he's not a leading man for Summer tentpole movies - or, at least, that he wasn't due to Trank's inept direction. I am so glad that Trank isn't attached to the other Anthology movie now.

Trank was originally going to direct this movie, right? Thank the maker he walked away, he got a Razzie nomination for worst director.

No, he was slated to direct the Boba Fett movie. It got delayed due to what was going on behind the scenes, and this, conversely, was pulled forward.

And he didn't "walk away" - that was the cover story. What really happened was that the production of Fant4stic was a complete mess behind the scenes and many of the problems stemmed back to Josh Trank, who was clearly not prepared for the job. This came out over time in various rumormills on comic book forums and a Louisiana State University message board, and were later substantiated when the film came out. I had my suspicions about him being fired essentially confirmed when he was suspiciously absent from a Celebration Anaheim panel he was meant to attend with Gareth Edwards, and it was formally announced that he was "leaving" the project not too long afterward. As it stands, though, Kathleen Kennedy appears to have dodged a major bullet.

If you're interested in the subject of Fant4stic's disastrous production, I would recommend you check these videos out if you have an hour to spare:

(On another note, I actually got to guest commentate on one of their videos on this specific subject. It was a hoot!)

Miles Teller is not the problem. The movie is the problem, there's no one and that's including Anthony Ingruber (He's not talented enough yet!!!) who can do Han Solo like Ford did.
Back away from fant4shit and realize that was faaar from his fault. Dude has talent, yeah he's not hot blast, but he's definitely not hot garbage either.

I never said he was. However, I think that his phoned-in performance in the movie would definitely make studios cautious of putting him in the lead role of a blockbuster (even if that lifeless performance was partially the director's fault).

Sorry, I was going for more of a general statement, because people often like to point at that movie and say "garbage".
    I agree there though.

Apparently Josh Rank was flown in and everything and then asked him not to attend the actual panel .

...Really? I knew that they told him not to attend, but I didn't hear the part about him actually being flown to California.

Yeah apparently they wanted to hold out as long as possible but I think the word got so ha that they decided to pull the plug right then and there and told him not to come to the panel .
