So who here was real excited to see the appearance of Bail Organa in R1? I was so glad to see him again. He was my favorite cameo next to Tarkin, Red & Gold Leaders, and plus Leia :)

Was really happy to see Jimmy reprising the role too! He aged perfectly to fit his character into the continuation of Rogue one. I liked how red 5 died, and this was an obvious nod to the fact that Luke later took on his mantle. I also did not mind the CG characters at all, and think as long as they are used sparingly, this can be really effective and add a lot to stories, especially when jumping back in timelines!

I sadly did not notice that part in the movie until a friend pointed it out to me after he saw it. I knew there were a couple things that I missed with the first viewing, I should seriously go see it again before its out of theaters!

Me too I really enjoyed it, hope to catch it again sometime soon because I mean come on. Are we really fans if we don't scour every single surface of these films that we can, and analyse every aspect of this wonderful universe under a microscope?;)

Smits is a great actor. So I fully approve of his involvement in anything

I am glad that he was in the movie, he had to be in it, he is one of the founders of the Rebellion. In Bloodline, the New Republic even raises a monument to him to honor that fact. I always liked Jimmy Smiths and I like that he was one of the major elements that connect the prequels and OT.

I thought it was great that Bail got see hope for his rebellion in this one. I'm glad Jimmy got the call to make a appearance.

And it *finally* provided (or re-emphasized) everyone with at least one face of a human being that died in the destruction of Alderaan.

IMHO it was a no-brainer, fans had been asking repeatedly ahead of RO that Jimmy Smits should make an appearance, but I wonder / like to learn whether he was there from the beginning or merely 'added' in those reshoots.

Has anybody been able to locate him in the original (Trailer) Alliance meeting scene which was probably reshot?

It was good to see Jimmy Smits return and serve as a link to the prequels.

Can't help but feeling that it was a shame though that the character again (likewise with the prequels) seemed a bit underused.

He was seen in some of the first trailers for R1. (Accidentally at that) So I think he was planned from the start.

There are some good things about the Prequels, and this was one of them. Such an important character to link it all together. One of the unsung heroes alongside our more loved galaxy heroes.

His scenes with Mon Mothma and Padmé in ROTS are actually pretty good. Too bad Lucas cut them from the movie.

Loved his scenes in both movies and they never seemed out of place. Really wish they showed more of Mon Mothma in ROTS though and ashame it is a deleted scene.

Having read Bloodline and Ahsoka, plus watching Rebels I definitely wanted Bail Organa to appear on this movie. Maybe his cameo wasn't as big as I would have wanted but it was great to have him, especially that scene with Mon Mothma talking about summoning his "Jedi friend" sending someone he would trust her with his life.

Of course I would have wanted to see something like this onscreen, but I understood the focus of the story was the rag-tag team who achieved stealing the Death Star plans:

Random piece of trivia: At this video while Carrie Fisher is roasting George Lucas, you can spot Jimmi Smits laughing at Carrie's comments (minute 2:47 of the video):

I was very glad to see him in it. Would have been a failure not have him in it.

He's pretty busy though, I wonder if he was only available for a certain amount of time. The focus was more on the Rogue One crew, and it was great he was in several scenes.
