Hey DR, is that one of the legacy models or one of the originals? My Dad and I bought one of the originals and put it together when I was a kid. Well, he put it together and I watched. I remember there being what seems like thousands of pieces to it.

It is an original model, could not believe I got my hands on it and the price was not bad at all. Yes there is many parts to it but it's upstairs and I'm not sure how many. Lol...... another words I'm to lazy to go look at the moment, but I will later and update this post.

Wow very nice, you did a outstanding job on this. I kind of went order crazy and purchased a few more models and supplies to do three more dioramas lol. I have so much to work on I will be busy for some time. My very next project is going to be a Death Star with tiles and a few of my Bandai models that I already have done, I'm just waiting on the tiles (they measure 14.5" x 14.5") to be shipped to me. If I don't get soon I will start on my Endore dio with AT-ST 1/48 Bandai with a hand made bunker and hand made trees. The size of the dio will be 18" x 18", and I have a new display cabinet coming that is a little over 6' tall with 6 display cubes. After I figure on my lighting on the cabinet I think it will be awesome to display my models and dioramas, and is going smack dab in my living room.....ha ha.
Thanks for the pictures of yours, I may copy some ideas if you don't mind when I get my snow speeders, I love the setting you created, it is really a great job that you did on that project.

The blue insulation foam was a brilliant idea !!!! I like to use foam in my dios because it makes a great foundation and so light in weight. I have gotten better at carving it then use woodlands flex paste to cover cracks or the whole thing. Thanks for the thumbs up and best of luck on your future projects.

I ordered the Bandai General Grevious. I'm building it for a friend in a trade deal. Should arrive tomorrow! So stay tuned for a review of sorts.

Here's a dio I did when the Y-wing first came out. I used 1/72 ground crew figures. I made the ground lights installed LEDs. One of my favorite projects. I might have to make another one.

I started on Grevious. First I had to paint his guts. They are cast in brown plastic. I just used different combinations of skintone and red.
I started assembling the upper body. I tell you, these parts are tiny. I did break one tiny part, so I had to take time to repair it. Looks perfect now, but it was a waste of time. So, be CAREFUL. ill have more soon.

I'll get back to Grevious later.
Here's a picture of a dio I did of Rey's home, based on the conceplt art. I like the concept version better than what was on film. _20160129_234650.JPG IMG_20160129_232032906.jpg _20160129_234650.JPG IMG_20160129_232032906.jpg download.jpg

Thanks for the well wishes, doing ok now but I will be in the hospital soon for a month to do a stem cell transplant. Sounds worse than what it is but I just have some long down times. The Death Star dio I bought the wall and added the lights, the "Endor" I made everything except the trees and model. Of course it's not screen accurate , and I figured out when building the bunker what was in my head was the aircraft bunkers we took when I was in Desert Storm lol. I tried to lower the bunker as much as possible to save it but I was still happy with the way it came out.

If you want a link to the Star Wars panels let me know, they are a little pricy but I wanted to make that Vader Obi Wan set for a long time......lol.

Hey guys, of course I had to come visit my favorite thread to see the new projects....@Finn_McCool stuff is looking great like always. On my stuff I've been slow to finish anything but did buy a 3D printer to make some of my own stuff. Not to get to deep in that subject right here but I'm pleased with some of the things I have been able to print out for projects. I found some files online and I have created some of my own, I think as I move forward and feel better I will really enjoy printing things in the future. I will drop in some photos for you guys to get an idea of what I'm talking about. IMG_E1590.JPG IMG_E1590.JPG IMG_E1618.JPG IMG_E1639.JPG Decided to do a somewhat scratch build of Falcon hold using a part of a Hasbro toy and my 3d prints. All I designed except the nav chair. They are not movie quality but fun and good enough looking for me.
    IMG_E1727.JPG IMG_E1738.JPG
The next few are not Star Wars but just showing off what the printer can do.
IMG_E1657.JPG IMG_E1770.JPG Before and after painting.
IMG_E1677.JPG IMG_E1678.JPG A print for my echo dot, does wonders for the sound quality.

I’m in the middle of putting my first model together...Poe’s Boosted X-Wing by BanDai. I’m thinking about painting it, especially since the water slide decals are ridiculously difficult to work with.

Any recommendations on which paint to use?

@Bluewaterpig I've done many models over the past 40 years, and am now into Warhammer 40K.

What sort of problems are the decals giving you? Are you putting clear gloss down before you try and put the decals on? If they are too thick and will not settle you can use Micro-Set solution. You can get this at any hobby store or online. You put your clear gloss down, then put micro-set on and apply decal while micro set still wet. Then apply some more over top, let it sit for about 30-45 seconds and press down with a wet paper towel. Then when it is fully dry you put clear matte/clear flat over top.
