Battlefront II, The Last Jedi and Rey's parents (WARNING! SPOILERS)

You have the scene there, I highly doubt this is a coincidence.

The work for such games began a long long time ago.

 

We’ve talked about this elsewhere, but no: Rey is not their daughter.

For one: she would look nothing like her mother.

But, more importantly and decisively, dialogue dumps for BFII’s campaign have already revealed that their daughter will play a key role in the next chapter of the campaign alongside her mother on Athulla, merely a year/months before the events of TFA.

Whilst it’s odd that the wording is the exact same, given the nature of repetition and “rhyming” in the Star Wars universe, I think that this can be dismissed as either foreshadowing or lazy writing.

 

Odd as you said that we have the guy who gave the map to Skywalker to Lor San Tekka who has a past with Luke, who knew Luke, the compass, these words in a game that barely was planned for 2 years from now

 

...but as I also said:
• Daisy Ridley looks nothing like Janina Gavankar.
• Campaign data-mining has shown evidence that Iden and Del’s daughter will be in the next chapter of the campaign, releasing as DLC next month. I don’t know how you can explain Rey being on Jakku since the age of 5 - 8, but also being safe and sound with her mother during a mission just a year or so prior to TFA.

 

I believe that Del and Iden are not the parents of Rey. Honestly, if she is not related to a Skywalker, I don't care who she is related to. Just make her a great character. I think Lucasfilm should not have made her family and past so mysterious. I feel like it will lead to disappointment if the mystery revealed doesn't pay off in the story.

 

Let's also not forget the absurdity of debunking Rey Skywalker (or whatever lineage theory that you follow) in a video game, even if the story is canon. BF2 is an awesome story with many connecting threads to the past and current bits of the saga, but Rey's parentage reveal is far too important to fans to be done in a video game before we even get to see TLJ.

 

Who said Rey didn't have a sister ?

Does Luke looks like Nathalie Portman ? Meh ...

But you can explain that if she's Luke's or a Solo ?

You know what I read the most ? Whaaaaaat ? If they are Rey's parents I have to buy this game ...

This is marketing.

And it is funny to see that a videogame isn't right but books and novelization are ? Wanna bet with me that Battlefront 2 will have more sells than Bloodline or Aftermath ?

This is the 21st century, you can tell stories with games, it's not a problem. All the story is canon.

 

I never said that the game isn't canon. I said that such an important reveal would not be relegated to a video game and I stand by that. There are far more people interested in who Rey's parents are than there are that will play BF2. I have 3 of those people in my house.

 

Noone ever said from LFL and Disney that it was important.

There have been 0 teasing in the trailers or TV Spot about Rey's family. None, not a single word. If it was important, they would have teased it. Plain and simple.

BTW, when people thought Kylo Ren was saying "cousins" in a Lego game, people thought it was relevant.

C'mon, man. At least 4 threads on this forum alone for around 14,000 posts (not even including discussions about this subject in the Rey thread) and you need an official announcement that this reveal is important?

 

As far as I can see, they're either Rey's parents or this is one heck of a trolling by LFL!

 

Daisy is too white to be a daughter of these two characters. Besides, this daughter seems to be with Iden, at least deducing from the epilogue. Also, am I the only who didn't think of Rey when they mentioned Iden's and Del's daughter?

 

I keep telling you, YOU ARE ALL BEING RICKROLLED!

 

I thought of Rey before I knew they had a daughter! Del's dialogue was exactly the same, he was on Jakku with his wife, knew Lor San Tekka, met Luke etc.
Not once did I think Daisy was too white to be their daughter either. Maybe that's just me?
Again, I have strong doubts but a lot of evidence points to it - so it could just be a bit of a trolling from LFL. Personally, I think it would make for an interesting backstory - one that isn't relevant to know too much about in the films but that can draw fans into their other media to find out more.

You aren't the only one. This situation seems absurd to me:

Interviewer: JJ, your The Force Awakens and Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi has been a phenomenal success and so much mystery was added to the saga and so many questions were raised. Will we finally find out who Rey's parents are in Episode 9?"

JJ Abrams: Oh... That reveal was made in EA's Battlefront 2. Surely you have played this game!?"​

Yeah... It just doesn't seem right to me lol.

 

I said Lucas Films and Disney. Fans are stuck on the end of Ep V ... I will repeat that there will be 0 teasing, not a single word about Rey's parents in the whole TLJ marketing from Disney.

 

It will be revealed in TLJ. And then the BF II add on will tell the rest of that story. If its true.
