Be glad and proud that they're not showing a trailer or clips.

First of all, those of us hoping for a trailer aren't necessarily hoping for a ton of footage between now and December; if they would reveal a trailer on Friday and that's all we get, I'd be more than happy.

Second, this thread is highly derivative of many other current threads; can we merge this with the SDCC Trailer thread, please?

Third, don't confuse wanting a trailer with not being proud of the franchise nor needing proof that it will be a great movie. Rather, many of us are already expecting a great movie and we'd like something in return for our faith, especially considering the hype around this year's CC panel.

 

Not angry at all, just responding to your post and pointing out that this is a superfluous thread seeing as we're already talking about this same topic in several others. But seeing as you gave me a Troll rating for simply responding, now I am a little ticked off.

Edit: Again @Fartkraum : What did I do here to deserve a negative rating? At the time, this was one of many threads talking about the trailer. Vendetta much?

 

so they risk losing fans speculation and reddit "leakers". look how many take MSW as 100% correct and how many people that has turned off. with no official news since early may and now having to wait till september they are going to lose people to the unofficial news. they are taking fans for grant just assuming we will show up and that is not right. they are going to flush all the buzz they got from the first 2 teaser down the drain.maybe if they hadn't waits week to say there won't be a trailer and doing though EW(if that is what happened) is just a insulting move, at least to me.

 

Why are we proud? I'm confused. But as I get over my overreaction to the news that we don't get a trailer I DO recognize that in the long term this may be a good thing. Delayed Gratification isnt a bad thing. This just shows that Disney thinks this movie is going to live up to the hype and they don't need to advertise the S*** out of it I guess?

 

they thought the same thing with tomorrowland and look what happened.

 

I actually saw Tomorrowland against my better judgement and the reason it is bombed is because it was complete crap. It sucked so bad. I took my sister who is 14 years younger than me and even she hated it.

 

I would recommend people to stop comparing Tomorrowland to Star Wars. It was not done by the same creative team, and one is a new movie with no fan base, and the later is the most profitable saga of all time...PEOPLE will go to the movies just because a) is Star Wars b) is in vacations. Seriously guys, so far they have done an excellent campaign, and we're still 6 months away from the film..chill out.

They paid 4 billions for this franchise, what do you imagine they do in their marketing meetings?

 

To be honest I love behind the scenes footage more then the movie - well I dont know why but I am really excited to see new magical stuff! I hope it will hit the internet the same day!

 

Well I mostly disagree with this being that it is stupid.

 

sorry if i don't like being insulted and as a life long fan right now the way they are handling this i feel insulted. for weeks they know fans were expecting a new trailer, but instead of just saying there won't be, they have EW do it though some unnamed source 4 days before comic con. you don't treat loyal fans like that. i'm going to see the movie no matter what, but right now i feel disrespected

 

You are not entitled to anything so stop crying.

 

the problem is if thye dont give fans someting to chew on, some real info... then the fans will build a better movie in their mind, and will be invariably dissapointed.

And some of these fans have been doing this for decades, builidng up in their mind what they think happened.

I can understand your frustration. As a life long fan myself, I was hoping to see something this friday. The thing is, i trust them. They have earn it because their campaign has been amazing. If anything, so far they have been very respectful to fans. The only time they failed to do something they promised, it was moving the release date, and back then people wen't angry but understood it was the best for the movie. Right now it is the best for their marketing campaign to keep the next trailer secret, and push it closer to the release date. I can assure, it is for the best: if we get some new footage next friday we will be rooting for more in the D23 (and we will be depressed if they don't show anything there..) and it goes on and on and on until december..

Maybe I'm the only one, but I applaud this decision.

 

my take- there will be Rogue One info at D23. There will be nothing but allusions there to SW7. There will be a full trailer in October. Then it will heat up and we will start seeing TV spots. Another full trailer in November. then...nothing but TV spots and then...wait for it...December 18th.

 

Even if they show behind the scenes footage it's not going to be anything substantial.

Just more stormtroopers getting blown up and BB-8 rolling around on set, Harrison Ford sitting in the cockpit of the Falcon, and John Boyega running on a treadmill and getting spritzed with water before they yell "action!".
