The fact that at some point, a proper set of rules wasn't thought of or wasn't used, doesn't imply that we shouldn't use rules at some point later on.

We make this bed. It's not enforced upon us.

People dropped nukes at some point. With your line of thought, the Japanese should launch an ICBM to USA today.

No, no, it's not right derailing the thread; the right way is to send a bottle of Jack Daniels to the new member.

    Then again:
“Falchion swords were primarily used for cutting an opponent's limbs or head and slicing unprotected areas of the body with a single stroke”.
, so perhaps let's not share the address @Use the Falchion.

So, IBAN it is for you.

Not to get too off topic. But apparently there has been a script leak for the Dune film. And people are up in arms that a minor character (can't remember his name) is being changed to a woman and Rebecca Ferguson as Jessica is in a prominent role --even though she is a major character in the novel-. So it must be the SJW army at work. I guess that now that TROS is almost left theaters so people just need something else to be angry about. Some people just need a reason to be angry- it's far easier than trying to deal with the problems or make something of themselves. The evidence of this for me, especially when it comes to SW are just the nature of the complaints themselves.

I learned a long time ago that the internet is cesspool for cranks, crazies and in general people with empty lives. It's why I won't spend an inordinate amount of time on forum that does not have an 'ignore' feature. I was very fortunate to find this forum. Because most of the other venues to discuss TROS or the ST has just been taken over by a vocal army of cranks.

    Sigh.

    1. The act of eschewing good common sense in favor of a line of attack that worked best in their favor was deliberate. It wasn't an absence or ignorance of proper rules, it was that they were inconvenient to the narrative they wanted to pursue.
    2. That point later on that you're referring to? That can occur in another trilogy. As for this trilogy, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
    3. Not an apt analogy at all. We are not at war with Japan today. If we were, there is no argument that exists that would preclude them from doing it merely because now WE don't want those devices turned against us. What's sauce for the goose...

    1. Don't know why, and this is why I said : "A proper set of rules wasn't thought of or wasn't used". If you want my gut and anecdotal feeling, I would agree with you. The classic tactic applied by a@@@@les is finding a point in your argument that fits a list of points made by something despicable, and then label you by that. Usually, you end up being a misogynist, conservative or X - phobic of something you have no problem with.

2 & 3. Dealer's choice; I don't care how they painted me and I can't find any interest in thinking how they conveniently forgot common sense. I will go as it seems natural to me, that is keep common sense, no matter what they do. It's not that I'am better than anyone, or more patient. It's being consistent.

If I argue for sampling and using logic and statistical inference, then I have to use it my self. Thus, to claim that most ST lovers have gone ape blast I must have my sample etc... I don't, and that is that.

That is one of the major issues with the sectarianism and intolerance that has infected modern day discourse. People have lost the art of debating effectively and many of the more vociferous have become little more than ideologues. I am speaking broadly of course with no particular reference to the reactionary right and the radical elements of the left.
