    Here's something I always thought was funny from the making of the original movie. Peter Cushing asked George if he could be filmed from the waist up because Tarkin's boots were too tight and he didn't want to wear them.

    @Pawek_13 This is a GREAT thread!! Love it!!

    Here is one of my favorite raw stock reels of A New Hope....especially because it has a Gonk Droid, but anyway, watch till the end....hilarious

    Also, I have posted this before, but this thread is a good place to discuss the origins of the blaster noises in Star Wars....watch and listen to this from Ben Burtt, the original sound tech for A new Hope!!

    Every time I see a BTW of the Dagobah set I'm in awe... it really is a set design work of art.

    Empire was the first SW film I saw at the cinema as a kid and I was just slack-jawed with amazement from start to finish. You cannot begin to imagine how jealous I was as a youngster when this kid wrote into a then well know UK TV* show asking to have lunch with Luke Skywalker and actually got to go to Dagobah!!




    *note - for anyone who knows the more recent history, yes I know the presenter was posthumously revealed to be less than wholesome, making this contentious from a certain point of view. I apologise if anyone is upset by that aspect, but hope it doesn't detract from the amazing wish fulfillment for this lad and the support there must have been from Mark, Peter and Lucasfilm to pull it off.

    Not really a behind the scenes find, but because I ran across this particular image from the ESB "furnace room"

    I finally noticed the Imperial stormtrooper droid I previously didn't know it existed at all (IMHO that's the one that shot Threepio and got deactivated for that).

    Apparently they used and repainted the upper part of the AT-AT Driver and combined it with a stormtrooper armor.

    Given the setup for the scene and some deliberate alterations on the helmet, this doesn't just look like a throwaway set piece to me but rather a unique, previously unknown and deliberate droid design.

    I remember being utterly fascinated as a youth, by the animation for the Hoth sequences.

    This just shows how brilliantly seamless the foreground models and background matte paintings were, as without Dennis Muren (left) and the team stood in this shot you wouldn't see the break line.
