    Would/could Benicio Del Toro be taking the place of Gleeson? I always thought (hoped) that Ren would be a mainstay throughout the PT. What does this potential casting news mean for our TFA villains?

    I am not sure if he is casted for a lead role. Established actors get normally smaller roles in Star Wars.
    I could see him as Pirate leader or washed out bounty hunter.
    Even more important to some fans could be the question whose daddy he is or if he is Plagueis or Revan.;)

    Part of the reason I framed the question the way I did is most reports are claiming he's being considered for THE villain. Of course, the use of "The" could be wrong and maybe he's "A" villain, but still...

    I would like the idea of him being some type of new bounty hunter. This is thirty years after Boba Fett's Prime so there has to be a new ruthless bounty hunter. Remember that Boba Fett didn't have screen time until Episode five as well.

    This is great news. BDT could definitely play a good Sith/DarkSider. Regardless of the role he may play, Star Wars would benefit by having him as part of the saga.

    Kylo Ren's character, for what I understood, did not represent strength, but rather weakness. He fits the profile of the evil wannabe Sith, and another pawn pushed by a greater evil lurking to later be revealed.

    They will cast a new villain for the episode VIII, I don't know if it is a good idea. I just hope they will keep all the cool villains (like Phasma) for the others 2 episodes. I don't want that mess of the PT villains. Maul killed to soon, then Dooku, and then again Grievous (worst villain ever) + Palpatine/Sidious.

    So the emperor didn't appear at any capacity until episode 5 so perhaps BDT is the big bombad. He's got the voice for it. But so does Andy Serkis. Perhaps there are two big bombads vying for power. Definitely plausible with the whole splintered empire thing. It would be kind of cool to see internal Sith power struggles. We have only seen that in The Clone Wars show when Sidious eliminates Savage Opress (horrible name) and Maul as competition.

    But its kind of hard to say as there are not supposed to be any Sith left, cause of the prophecy.

    I for one, and this is my number one wish if BDT is not a force user, is for him to be Thrawn. BDT could pull off blue skin pretty well. Well at least he should be a character inspired by Thrawn.

    To summarize, powerful force user or Thrawn like genius admiral

    Here is a theory, assuming the Prince Kylo Ren theory is true what if Benicio Del Toro is being sought to play Kylo Ren's father? So General Hux dies in VII and Kylo Ren is deemed a failure so his father decides to take a more hands on approach to the First Order. Him and Snoke could be rivals for both the First Order and control over Kylo.

    Okay first, how in the world did this post get a dislike? What is wrong with people?

    This casting news makes me wonder if they will be following the prequel template of introducing a new major villain in each movie. Kinda makes you wonder if Kylo or Smoke aren't long for the star wars universe.
